I've had a couple of requests to post some newer mixes, so I'm dedicating this small corner of GEJ to some new school mixes which I think make the grade. I know the mighty Klassik has started a thread like this, but think of this thread as the bastard little brother of his one (all due respect Klassik, lol).
I'm aiming to provide a space for those of you that like soulful and atmospheric newschool, heavy amen rinseouts also included to silence those who say Jungle is dead!! Heh heh.
Of course, new D&B is nowhere near the same as '94, with the scene now awash with crap artists churning out regurgitated rubbish and clownstep. In the old days, good tracks were released a lot more consistently than now. These days the words needle and haystack come to mind often. Unless you're into liquid or creative atmospheric stuff like drumfunk, in which case there's loads of stuff coming out all the time.
There are a core of people who make excellent new jungle/d&b and in my opinion cant be overlooked. I still love certain new school sounds as much as old school, its just different. Liquid, dubwise, and labels like Bassbin, Esoteric, Scientific Wax, Dispatch, Offshore, Paradox Music, Soul:R, Signature, Subtle Audio, Inperspective, Exit, Hospital, Horizons, and quite a few others, provide a more blendable soundscape of atmospheric soulful music with loads of substance, and the production standards are higher than in the old days. Nobody can deny that Calibre, Alix Perez, Marcus Intalex, Commix etc just make good soulful music. As for amen and break based newschool Jungle style drumfunk, Breakage, Equinox, Senses, Chris Inperspective, Dub-One, Theory, Survival, Fracture and Neptune, Sum-One, Paradox, Nucleus, Seba, and the rest... say no more...
Here are some mixes to get the thread started. Back in '94 the sets were filled end to end with good tunes, but nowadays mixes are peppered with a few not so good tracks. Be patient with some these mixes I've posted and I'm sure you will hear tunes you will like too. Some of the sets are a bit hit and miss because I added them to provide a bit of variety. The breaks driven sound of Senses and Survival below is pure art so dont miss out. For those of you that love heavier amen Jungle, check the Breakage and Equinox mixes, you wont believe it but JUNGLE IS NOT DEAD. Off the fucking hook!!! Dont sleep on the whole drumfunk/choppage thing! Sum-One from the US is fuckin wicked so if anyone has any mixes by him, upload them!
And no dissing new school here! Save it for another thread please.
Just to clarify, there is NO clownstep or dancefloor cheese below. Just quality beatz...
This one's strictly for the Junglists and music lovers...
Equinox - Jungletrain.net Radio - Feb 2007 Hot off the press!!! This is a wicked 2hr mix show hosted by Equinox, do not miss this!!! New tracks,
stuff from the last few years, and some proper classics. Ripped and upped by firefox1994 . Top work mate!!
Equinox - Club Noir - Bristol - Summer 2005 A more mellow set from Equinox, still on the breaks tip. Mixing's a bit chopped in places, maybe he was drunk?
Lovely selection in my opinion. Rollin!
Survival - Horizons Studio Mix - Dec 2006 This set is awesome, really atmospheric. It sent me into a trance when I listened to it. Really fresh sound emerging at the moment. Not a drum machine in sight, its all breaks driven atmospheric tunes. Truly intelligent music!
Sabre - Studio Mix - Oct 2006 This guy is rising to the top of the tree right now in the UK. The last track on my mix below is his "Love Is Gone"
which is pure niceness.
Redeyes - DOA Studio Mix - 2006 This newcomer is another one to watch, also producing some nice tunes out now. Big ups to damiondrumz for the link.
Well folks I hope you enjoyed the show. More updates very soon, I got some more gems in the pipeline.
If any of you want to up some relevent mixes for this thread, PM me and I'll put the link in the above section
with a big up. Safe as 'ouses me old china

Big up MrBrown for the final request to do this thread, (I've been meaning to for a while.) There's a lot more sets being upped now bro! By tomorrow there should be twice as many if I can stay awake long enough! (Hope that's ok GEJ admin?)
Some more nice liquid in the pipeline from Beta2 and Zero Tolerence, Redeyes, Will Miles, Doc Scott, plus some more heavies from the Technicality nights.

SENSES @ Technicality 2006! Its damn good. D/L, put headphones on and listen through it. Deep as hell, all breaks driven, not too over the top dark. Highly recommended!
