| | Revenge of the oldskool anthems! | |

| | Tango & Ratty are two names known for their | |
| | long standing productions in the drum and | |
| | bass scene. While they both recorded | |
| | individually for such labels as Formation and | |
| | Creative Wax earlier, their first pairing was | |
| | in early 1993 with this two-tracker. "Tales | |
| | From The Darkside" is a fairly straight | |
| | forward track, basic and with no major | |
| | surprises, but the intensity and the energy | |
| | that it exudes never fails to cause a peak | |
| | moment in a DJ's set. The "kick a hole in | |
| | the speaker" vocal snippet is sampled from | |
| | Eric B and Rakim's hip-hop classic | |
| | "Microphone Fiend" off of their Follow The | |
| | Leader album. "Final Conflict" on the | |
| | flipside is another jungle tekno banger, with | |
| | its sinister sounding ringing bells and deep | |
| | warbling bassline. | |

| | Both tracks on this EP were licensed to the | |
| | Kickin label later and appeared on their | |
| | "Kickin Hardcore Leaders" compilation | |
| | available exclusively in the US. It also | |
| | spawned a remix EP, featuring a slightly | |
| | inferior "Tales From The Darkside" remix by | |
| | Mickey Finn & Bay-B Kane as well as a much | |
| | superior "Final Conflict" remix by T&R | |
| | themselves, as well as a brand new bonus | |
| | track "The Killer". More recently, drum & | |
| | bass guru Digital gave "Tales From The | |
| | Darkside" a complete reworking for the | |
| | Timeless label, and after being out of print | |
| | for nine years, the original two-tracker has | |
| | been repressed and is now available from all | |
| | decent record shops and distributors, putting | |
| | a severe dent in the average $100 asking | |
| | price on eBay for an original pressing. | |
