This is a collection of jungle from a massive record label and underground scene in New York, highlighting in the '90s and rocking to this day.

This is Jungle Sky. This is Konkrete Jungle.

The Konkrete Jungle scene in NYC created a new sound, much different than the jungle breaks coming from the UK at the time. This was more hip-hop and dancehall reggae breaks, and the record label Liquid Sky would represent this new sound in the archives.

This torrent contains the following compilations:
Volumes I through VII of the "This is Jungle Sky" compilations,
"This is Home Entertainment" Volume I,
"Missing Time (The Abducted Remixes)",
not to mention the tasty live sets from Konkrete Jungle

as well as a few albums by the artists:
Yellow Note,
DJ Wally,
DJ Soul Slinger,
1.8.7.,
and WE.

All files are high quality MP3s, mostly above 192kbps, and a third of the files @ 320kbps.
There are some AIFFS of albums you might want for burning original quality cds.

cool, you guys found the torrent.
I uploaded to demonoid first, but then found i couldn't add my own tracker as it's a private tracker (this is my first uploiad).
For those of you who don't have demonoid accounts, I've got the torrent available on my own tracker:
http://www.mininova.org/tor/677800

Apparently there are some people who don't know, but the liquid sky sound is diverse.
Many artists have hip-hop, rock, and reggae influences on their music.
Technically, every jungle rythm is on a backbeat and is played to a skank.
This is an element which comes from reggae and its derivative genres like ska.
The backbeat is present in almost all rock & roll derivatives, which includes reggae and hip-hop.
The skank is a bit more rare in the rock & roll specturm, but is found in jungle far more often than DnB. However, this is not to say that all jungle has a skank.
In fact, "Vol 5 Rock and Roll" of the "This is Jungle Sky" series is full of songs without a skank, but a more of a rock-style backbeat in general.
all jungle has a back beat, DnB too.

When comparing it to UK drumnbass from the same time like the Metalheadz label/scene, it seems fair to me to say it's more hip-hop, rock and dancehall.
I followed the DnB scene closely from fairly early on, and I found out about Jungle when I first heard music from the liquid sky label. At that time, early '90's, I hadn't heard of any other jungle scenes being around in NYC yet, and it seemed to me that it all kinda evolved at Konkrete Jungle.

does anyone know of any earlier appearances of what I'd call "DnB with a skank" in NYC than Liquid Sky or Konkrete Jungle?
