first off hello folks.
good to know I ain't the only one with a fetish for this period of jungle!
Got a tune I wanna find and thought yous might be able to help me . . .
it might be from right at the end of this 'golden era' we refer to . . . but ere goes . . .
now i kno full cycle released a tune with the 'a dictation and a definition . . . ' sample from Gang Related & Mask, but the one I wannna find doesn't sound much like any of the versions I've located of this . . .
the one I had a tape way back when is far more cheesy and jump up, bouncy, almost silly, but I still remember it with such fondness despite 'losing' the tape long ago . . .
any ideas . . . |

i'm sure you're refering to the original - that is by far the bounciest - wacky bouncy

the original is from 1996; there's the version from the Wayz of the Dragon LP from 1997/8; the full cycle version came out last year i think.
check back here and i'll put up a clip for you once i get home from work - or sooner if i can work something out.

far more silly and parp'y, if you get my meaning . . . |

I'm thinking it's a dubplate . . .
too good for general release, sad state of affairs when tunes as good as this get lost in the sands of time tho, (or someones crates)
would be all time classic, easily, but it seems like no-one really knows it! |

jump up version your on about is the 1st version released '96 on purple dope dragon lable
there were several dub plates (3 i think) between the version released on Combustion ep / W.O.T.D
little fact for ya - The sample on the original DD version was banished by copyright for the later combust/W.O.T.D release, so the "diction" lyric is roni himself. It was known as the "michael cain" rmx, cos thats what roni thought his voice sounded like! |

why would you hope it doesn't get repressed?
that's just stoopid.
I've loved that tune ever since first hearing it, pretty much ten years, and have only just found it thru you griff...
surely it would be better for more people to hear this music, and learn rather than go on making the mindless d&b I hear so much of these days . . .
I love this site and the music it's about, but to try and 'keep it for yourselves' is just madness... |

ha, thats true mate!
tis very selfish of me i admit! i think its due the fact that i spend big money on old skool pressings, only for a £5 repress to come out a week later.
As an old skool dj playing round and about, its good to have those tunes that "'Ive loved ever since first hearing it, pretty much ten years ago...." still having tha effect rather than a tune that every jump on the bandwagon dj rinsing and killing.....
I cite original nutta, shy fx chopper and vally of shadows as prime examples of tunes id hammer if they hadnt been nailed by the repress market.
I am however a complete hipocrit as i have lapped many an old skool / jungle repress that i missed first time around....
ya got me swillah!
what the other djs reckon? |

sweet answer mate!
Sorry, but I had to be honest.
It's only cos I love the music so much, but have ever really been able to enjoy it 'out' properly, that I feel so strong about it!
I guess I was too young when it was really going off, so i heard it on the radio and then by the time I was heading out it'd changed, irreversably! =(
Thing is I have so many mates who have no idea how good it is, and prattle on about sh*te d&b tunes, and even play them as DJ's and I can't get excited about their stuff, but it's tunes like this, and other hard or impossible to find ones that really made it what it was, and knowing that they exist, and could make so many ingnorant folls so much happier that bugs me!
and breath . . .
ez
and cheers for the honesty! (and the sound clip!)
