In 2008 Chicagoans mourned the loss of Brian Blackeye, the city's first and primary hardcore-jungle MC. To initiate the preservation of his memory in 2009 and beyond, we present the final recording of the full C.H.A. lineup: JJ Jellybean, DJ Snuggles, and MC Blackeye. These previously unreleased tapes were submitted by Dubshack and are exclusive to GoldenEraJungle.com
I'm assuming all the mixes here are .mp3s, but I haven't noticed the same type of artifacts I get when I convert a .wav to .mp3 in WaveLab. I know that, generally speaking, the less headroom that's left, the less artifacts. I recently recorded a Dr. Groo mix to upload here and got it as hot as I could without going over. I converted it to .mp3 and it sounds good, but I'm still hearing artifacts. Any tips?

I use Sound Forge 8.0 + Adobe Audition for all my tape rips, and I've never come across any issues with artifacts. Try downloading the LAME mp3 encoder (its free) - and if your .wav file sounds good in Wavelab, just use LAME to convert to mp3. LAME is a pretty consistently successful codec...
