i actually hail from buffalo ny.
i use to go up to toronto every weekend for 3 years straight. love that place. dont miss the cold ass weather though

who knows... ive heard from a birdie that there was a cirlce of the knights. "Andy C, Fabio, Kenny Ken, etc." That chose to move dnb to more of a dark elctronic front to avoid the bullshit from teh unfortuante "cack jungle scene". Thus DnB was formed.
But the demand outside of the UK for nu dark shit/ jump up holds its credit to any crew/scene that craved it. Konkrete Jungle is prolly the reason the US scene survived. 300+ Million potenial customers isnt bad.
After the blow-up, it never mattered who made it, but who wanted and appreciated it.
I love that I live in a city that is spoiled next to the UK. Cuz fuck, it doenst bug me when ppl from the UK say otherwise, cuz I get so see all their big guys on a weekly basis. However, after traveling from Poland to Amsterdam, the DnB vibe has spread. And the demand is global, so any crew that STATES they helped contribute, "Talent, Demand" gets the OK by me.

well I grew up in Buffalo, and spent around 6yrs of my life in toronto. that place knows how to party hands down. We would get to hear the sickest ass djs from the UK that would NEVER perform anywhere in the states, either they couldnt get in our country or didnt have proper work permits. In any case im pretty happy i grew up there cause now that im out west, the jungle is way different here than in NY.
Jump-Up, Ragga, & Rollas are big there....out here i notice techy snarey random beats are big. here (stuff id play at my house not at the club, i barely see people bobbin their head let alone get up and dance to that stuff)
I love all jungle, but for a DJ to come out and play snarey random beats and not pay attention to the dance floor is beyond me

Back then every DJ there, local or otherwise, was playing UK records and providing a mirror of the UK scene at the time. No styles were actually born in Konkrete Jungle, more like some geezers studio in England. Bit misleading I thought. It's like the equivelent of saying 'crunk' was born in a club in Surrey.... lol!
Hey Toronto is jungle's second home as I've learned here on GEJ - big up the crew dem!
Konkrete Jungle - the USA's longest running jungle event so all due respect.
I doubt it gave birth to jumpup or many other styles tho to be honest. Maybe they meant it was the first place stateside to host jump up? Dunno about darkstep, I suppose that's early hardstep?
Either way, no offence fellow jungle crew, I just thought it was a bit misleading
