Is anyone here familiar with this genre? I have recently started getting into it. it is at about house bpms (125-135), but they use the classic drum breaks used in jungle. I hear the think break being used like crazy. Same with the Apache, hotpants, etc... Some have some nice chopped & screwed samples in it. There is even an element of booty / ghetto tech to some of the tunes.

You can find some records on turntablelab.com. Big producers in the genre are Tittsworth, Rod Lee, Blaqstar, and even some Spankrock.

I have a remix of an old 80's tune that I am working on and will post it in here when I'm finished. The music is a great alternative for a "dancefloor friendly" style, but still with those sick breakbeats.

I have heard it called "go-go" once before, but I have never heard it anywhere else. Name some "go-go" artists.

I wonder if it is the same or how similar it is to B more.

I can think of two off the top of my head. junkyard, backyard. they are off the hook. I lived in southwest dc for almost 2 years, so.....I've heard stuff all over.
funkmasterj.tripod.com/gogo.htm
has some really good links. I'm pretty sure they are the same or similar.

whatup - my heart belongs to Bmore Club music. I've been hooked ever since Doo Doo Brown hit the streets. Hammerjacks and the Paradox (on Russell St) are Baltimore's big bmore club spots. Paradox does all-ages shows where all the kids come out to rock their new dance or whatever. But if you check the latenight bmore club joints - like Hammerjacks - they go OFF w/ the crazy dance moves. Its nuts. MTV News did a little spot on Bmore Club music - can check it online here: http://www.mtv.com/news/yhif/young_leek_baltimore/

I'm good friends with the Tittsworth. He's an old dc dnb head actually - I've been pushin his club records hard! Can check his newest tunes and stuff at http://www.tittsworth.com/.

For a proppa taste of DC Go-Go, ya can check my man GoGo Craig's mix 'Bumpin Fresh' - http://69.140.41.221/freshgogomixes/bumpinfresh.mp3

"Southeast...South Southeast" = the jam!

yeah!!! HJ'S!!! Hammerjacks OWNS. Not only is the music hot, but it's one place I can find dancers that really have talent. Hard to get better yourself if you're constantly dancing with people that have no talent! Good lookin' women out there too. I would highly reccomend it for a mini-vacation. Also, another good club in bmore = sonar. I've seen the likes of usual suspects, sander kleinburg, cause4concern, there. good times.

I just picked up a booking at Sonar for monthly breaks/dnb Saturday party! Sick drink menu. Sick sound system.

And re: HJ Girls.... if you aren't careful, you could get swallowed up in one of them big ol' booties on the dancefloor. not even joking. Not only do these girls have junk in the trunk, but they know how to use it as a weapon. Crazy athletics. "Jiggle It" is one of the tunes thats huge right now in the clubs and on 92Q FM. Mash it up.

The core B-more club stuff is on pretty tight lockdown, unfortunately. I'm pretty well versed in locating mp3s and stuff, but these dudes seriously got it locked down. There's a few record shops locally where you can pick up 12"s and in baltimore you can find the bmore club mix cds. But thats about it, unfortunately. One good online spot for history/info and also links to mix cd sites is: http://www.baltimoreclubtracks.com/homeagain.htm

DJ Technics is a main player, and he rocks his own internet radio station with nonstop bmore club mixes. Linked from this site too. For the history section, where they go through the years and break down what breaks were mainly used and who was doin stuff, go here: http://www.baltimoreclubtracks.com/history.htm

another one is: http://www.familywerks.net/SPIP-kiddy/spip.php?article220

Yo is that place still around, I thought they tore it down when they built the staduim. B-more house, definately the shizzle! I'm a junglist to the core, but grew up on that nastiness...remember DJ Boobie?
