I need some advice about Chicago bars....n quick!
My Girlfriend's birthday is next weekend, n I am thinking of taking her down to the Windy City for a night......
She is an old punk rock girl, n hence, I was going to take her to a few
punker bars down der hey.......but alas, as i'm not a Chicago resident, n am not very knowlegable about your bars, etc, so I need some help on where some phat places to go are.......and as there are more than a few of ya on here who are from the area, I figured this would be the best place to ask.......
So can any of the Chicago headz on here point me in the right direction to a few good places go to n have a pint or 4 whilst listening to some good punk shit??????

....n I guess they don't necissarily have to be a Punk Rock bar....she just doesn't like electronic music, so something like Smart Bar n others like that won't be a good choice......
so if there are any bars that are maybe just out of the ordinary, that would be cool too.......like the Safehouse in Milwaukee..... if anyone has been in there, they will know what i'm talking about....

.....just hopped on the site for a sec.....n this looks like it will be perfect for her......."UPSTAIRS: CLASSIC 80's & INDUSTRIAL DANCEFLOOR ANTHEMS, DOWNSTAIRS: = CHICAGO'S FINEST JUKEBOX"......aside from punk, she digs old 80's type shit like PIL, Ministry, The Pixies, The Cure, The Smiths, Bauhaus, Nitzer Ebb, etc..........so this would be right up her alley.........
Good lookin out my friend  ......Zebo dropped me a name of something in Wicker Park.......where is this bar at???
....now if I can get like 2 more suggestions i'll be set!

if you park by red dog, and wander around wicker park, trust me, you'll find anything you're lookin for....of course, i haven't been to the city proper in awhile, but that's where i would head....

walked by the exodus a few times....always wanted to check it out, but the company i'm with always wants to head straight to smart bar.......someday *sigh*....clark st. is real easy to get to.....what way are you coming in? different ways to hit it up, but it's easiest to explain knowing which way for sure you're comin from

I'll be heading South from Milwaukee on 894.......during the day we're gonna hit up the Field Museum, Aquarium, n such......so we'll be on Lake Shore Dr........n then try to find our way to the aforementioned bars.........is Clark anywhere close to Wicker Park????
Sorry for the lame questions, but my gf n I haven't been to Chi in 10 years!!!!!!!
......it'll be stressfull enough trying to navigate my way around in my Conversion Van, n I don't want to end up driving past any burning barrels if we don't have to

no prob yo! been there with the barrels and all.....
if you're comin from lakeshore hop off at the belmont exit. take belmont a couple blocks until you get to clark. hang a right, and you're right there in wrigleyville!! smart bar is just past wrigley field on your left a few blocks up...right next to metro.
however, if you're lookin for exodus and all that goodness, it's before wrigley field, along with a bunch of other fun places i've stumbled in and out of....
wicker park isn't too far away.....but offhand i can't think of the quickest way to get back and forth.....best to consult a map of the city.
if memory serves, most of wicker park's goodies focus around the damen/north/milwaukee crazy ass intersection. good times indeed.

Cool........i'll definately be refering to a map......I was just curious of the general local's.......but it sounds like everything is right in the same area so that's just perfect!!!!
Chi won't know what hit it once my gf n I get finished down there
...if anyone is in that area next Saturday, you should hit me up n we could get together for a pint or two n some chewenz
