You don't need a whoofer to write subs really. Just get some monitor speakers which go that low.
Mine do... to the point of making me feel sick! lol There is a health warning on the back of them Cheap too
Yeah headphones would be the best thing to make bass if you don't have good enough speakers.. get some monitors after you get you soundcard Anton!!
As for the tune not being finished... those kind of tunes always go on for over 5 minutes in length, and have two bassline drops. I'll record a whole Survival tune for you and send it over Skype. Then you can map out your tune using the same timing to get the right idea of length.

By the way, I've just finished another track. The response on a local forum was all negative - they said it's bullshit. What do you think, guys?

Tell them to eat shit!
Very good, coming along well. Again the tune is only just over a minute long but all jungle/d&b tracks are over 5 minutes long. So try to stretch it out more and add more layers and sounds.
GOLDEN RULE - track has to be over 6 minutes long, and have two bassline drops.
The part where the bassline comes in should be at least 1min 30 seconds or more into the track, on the 80th bar. Yours is at 32 bars so you need to build the track up to bar 80 before the bassline comes in. You have a great basis for a tune there, the beats are especially clean, but try to add some fills at the end of every 16th bar.
The number one tip would be to listen to a complete track, for instance - Survival's tune "Alpine". I'll record this tune for you but I have to set my turntables up so it won't be for a couple of days.
Overall, nice idea, nice sounds, good start! Don't let a couple of idiots on a local forum tell you it's bullshit, they've probably never heard the jungle/d&b that you have
EDIT - Here is a complete track by some well known producers :
http://www.sendspace.com/file/yyfvaq
Notice how the bassline comes in at around 1min 32 seconds. Notice there are two bassline drops in the tune, the first at 1.30 and the second at 4.03. Notice that the track is 6mins 15 seconds long. See what I mean? Use the tune as a guide to understand the structure of a complete track to begin with.
Nice one!

Thanks a lot for your kind and constructive feedback! You pointed me directly at my mistakes, so I can effectively avoid making them again. The timing tips you gave me are very useful! I'll look for Survival's tune mp3 @ Chemical records, but I'll be glad to hear it in good quality

Good track! I'm definetly feeling the vibe. Terrorist-style bassline is good, but IMHO: think about transposing it one octave lower, so it will sound more bassy.
Do you have any other tracks?

Not mistakes Anton, great so far!! Just needs more work to be usable by a DJ. It's all a learning experience. It helps to come from a DJ background so that's your slight disadvantage. Trust me tho, all tunes are over 6 mins so keep working on your tune and it will be excellent!
Yes the mp3s on Chemical are not complete tracks, just short samples to show what the tune is like (to help people decide to buy the complete tune on vinyl). I'll record you the complete Survival tune v.soon. I was in London today so didn't have time yet. See you on Skype tomorrow maybe?
