With Reason I would utilize tutorials that there are online and ask friends who use the program. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have with the program. With that, I would suggest you get a midi trigger like an Oxygen 8 or Micro Korg or something similar. I don't feel that you need much else at this point.

MIDI - Musical Instrument Digital Interface - a device that works with the computer, almost talks to the computer. You can use it to trigger samples, or assign a knob on the midi trigger to automate some sort of effect in reason.

A cheap / good midi trigger would be an Oxygen 8 as I mentioned in the post before. It has about 25 keys and 8 assignable knobs

Please let me know if you have any more questions as it is a constant learning process with production. I learn new things every day.

I tried the demo for renoise - I definately dig the feel it has of an older tracker. The built-in editing & effects definately give it an advantage over a traditional tracker. A lot of that stuff, if not impossible, is much more time consuming in something like MED where you're figuring out what code to type on which line. Easy to figure out too - we had a sequence up & running in no time.

Hmm..... I may check that out. I am about to give Nuendo a shot as I am not a fan of the sequencer in Reason. How long have you been working with renoise?

True, and there are many ways just to do one thing. By jumping in and messing with the programs you develop your own sort of "style" of doing things, but there are always some fundimental things that help get you started.

Let me know when you have a finished tune my friend smiley

I just hope that this producer forum doesn't turn into a "that softeware sucks" forum. That was one reason why I slowed down in producing...

So people's opinions on software had a direct affect on your producing? You slowed down because people didn't like certain software? Seriously? That just doesn't seem like something from you phil. Getting distracted by life is one reason I can understand.

Zebo, do you use Recycle? It is very simple software to create loops in *.rx2 format for further use in Reason's Dr. Rex loop player. I recommend it to everyone.

if you like drRex on reason than you would love the fruity slicer on FLstudio.. you dont need to chop or edit at all.. it reads the peaks on the loop then maps it across your keys.. good fun!

Yes, once I started to really use reason, the dr. rex & recycle became a big part of the production. I do like it.
