The GEJ Englishmen need to explain this one to me. It's marmalade made from beef and yeast?!?!?!

LOL! It's not marmalade, nor is it sweet. It looks like melted tar.
Marmite is a yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing. It's a savoury spread which is eaten on toast for breakfast.
It tastes kind of salty. The taste is hard to describe, but it's really nice and moorish. Have you ever tried those corn snacks called Twiglets? Those are covered in Marmite, although they taste like shit for some reason.
Some people love Marmite, some hate it. I love it.
Marmite is pretty good for you as it has a lot of vitamins in it.
The Australians have a poor immitation called Vegemite, which is nowhere near as nice.
The ONLY way to eat Marmite is thinly spread on buttered toast, and I mean thinly spread, as in, a tiny tiny bit so that the butter turns brown. Any more and it isn't nice.
Here is the Wiki about it -

I've tried vegemite before & wanted to vomit. It tastes like tabasco & soy sauce mixed with a TON of salt. If marmite is anything close... I dunno. I guess it's probably an acquired taste & to each his own, y'know? Different foods for different places.
Isn't it China, or somewhere out there (maybe the whole area?) that can't believe we still drink milk after 2 years old or so. They find it revolting & strange. Kinda like us yanks with our aversion to marmite & common sense.
