Alright all you midwest heads, and heads around the us as well. A few of us have been discussing a GEJ flavored event. The ball is already rolling, and it looks like it is definitely possible that something is going to go down. GEJ is going to explode into the midwest with a strictly jungle/dnb event. The GEJ admin and I would like to hear your thoughts on what should be done, and how this could be successful. Anything!!! Spit your comments right here. Any help that could be gotten on the subject is greatly appreciated!!! Cmon people, let's get something going, and blast into the scene strong. People need to hear that jungle will never die!!!
Your thoughts on Venues, DJs, Money saving methods, Promoting, fundraising. Post it all!

But as I said in there, I can enlist most of the big promoting crews up here, know sound people, vj's, n some phat wisco Jungle n Dnb dj's......
As far as venue's go, I am not much help, but if needed, I could ask around.....would probably be Wisco area though.....may be easier for everyone to have an Illinois location.....but none of us old-schoolers are strangers to travel ;]
But this is a great idea n i'm sure won't be much of a prob to get off the ground n will blow the midwest the fuck up!!!!!!

First of all this a great idea, wish i'd thought of it. I think the key will be to mix the new with the old;l eg. "F.O.I. - The Seed - Kemet" and maybe "Klute - hell hath no fury" example. Perhaps not back to back but you get the idea. We can't just cater to the old heads.. I'm sure it will be fire

No offence, but i'm personally sick of hearing this kind of arguement out of people, as what's the difference between raves back in the day, n raves of today except for the type of music that is played.......save the stupid ass Kandi Kids who could really give a fuck about the music n are only attending events to find fucked up drugs n "freak" eachother out...... should we really mould parties around them????......maybe hand out free glowsticks n candy bracelets to make them happy......
now I know you were talking about blending nu n old musical styles, but I have to make the arguement.......what is so bad about throwing an all Jungle flavored event???...... lord knows that most every event these dayz is based around nu-school Dnb n Dubstep....... *yawn....why not break the mould n bring back the beautiful old-school Jungle vibes....if only for one night....isn't that what this site was started for in the first place.....I didn't think that I was on DnB Arena..........

u need:
A: a venue with chill owners who can accomidate the sound!
Sports bars with large areas and pools tables that can me moved has been down with some success around my area. But the outdoor patio is key.
Or shifty clubs who arent near the traditional entertainment district.
B: enough of your own people who will support u and show up to fill out the room, so other ppl wont come back sayin the place was totally dead if shit doesnt go down so well.
this really kills the start up IMO
C: dj's willing to do it for cheap who kick ass and want to help out the success of a party like this.
i think parties in Toronto are just too easy to host. so my advice might be weak, but those 3 are the best i could come up with.

hermit i understand that you like old school sound but if the kids who go out today dont know it or want to hear it why would they attend if no one they knew or any style they knew was going to be there. you have to play things people want to hear to some extent just like any club would.

I hear ya.....but who's to say that they don't like it.....n even, that they don't know about it......as this is a GEJ party, they should know what the score is by now seeing that there are close to 3,000 members ;]....
Too many people these days throw up that arguement, n I just don't buy it........if there is a party, people will come, barring shit is done right n there is enought HYPE.......n to me, if something is out of the ordinary, that will give a special allure n incentive for people to go n check out what is going on.......if there are a ton of DnB shows all the time, n Hey Guess What....there's Another DnB show....what's the incentive to go when they could catch the next one..........now if it is THE FIRST ALL JUNGLE PARTY IN 10 YEARS........that has a nice n unique ring to it
.....i'm not saying to not have DnB acts......all i'm saying is that to me it would be something Special to have a True Fucking Blue Jungle Event........that's all

Nobody loves techstep, assorted dnb etc. as much as myself, but the concept of oldskool jungle is simple and beautiful.
Also, if anybody is familiar with Log squared sound, i know the guys.......

Let's keep the arguments to a minimum in this thread guys. We'll worry about the sound classifications later! Right now what we need is $$$$$$$, $$$$$ saving techniques, venue ideas, offers to help, promoters, dj's that would offer to spin that have a serious kickin sound, thoughts from experience, shit like that. The combined IQ level on this site is insane, and I know this is going to come through. Thanks for everyone's input so far. Keep em comin' and spread the word that this event IS going to happen!

....but the point had to be made, as it is a valid point of promotion ;]
Back to the topic at hand though.
As far as using Sports bars, Reception halls, Bowling Alley's, etc, they are nice, as they are typically convient n easy to find, but one thing to keep in mind is that there is also more of a chance of shit getting wrecked by party-goers, n hence more of a chance that the next day the owner will be trying to sue you out of your ass........happened to some friends of mine back in 96'.....they threw a rave @ a local Hotel/ reception hall, n the kids put their cigarette butts out all over the carpet n people sued my friend for $6,000!!!!.........so it's best to stay from Carpeted spaces ;]
Obviously they are easier to find than vacant warehouse space though, so it is somewhat of a conundrum......unless you can find a farmer that doesn't have a neighbor for 2 miles n pay him $600.....
But as I said last night, i'll be talking to several promoters up here n send them in your direction......should help with $$$, n some of the sound you'll need, as well as draw a huge Wisconsin crowd.....
Now that I think of it.....the M.I.A. Chicago n Toymaker crews throw a ton of raves down there.....they may have some good ideas for an Illinois venue...

ok. here's everything i have come up w/ so far in regards to this idea:
some of the dj's who are most respected and archived on this site are from chicago. those are the dj's that should be headlining this party. i.e. phantom, danny, dr. groo, 3d, etc.
has anyone mentioned this to the junglist souljah kru? they specialize in old school/dub flavored dnb. i know zebo is a contributor on here.
log squared is a great sound company to work with. reasonable prices and excellent sound. they could hook up a main room proper.
i also know some guys w/ smaller rigs for a possible second room, which brings me to my next point.
i think it should be at least a two room event. the main room should be for the old school flavor that gej is known for. all the people i mentioned before would be perfect. you could also have a few of the up 'n' coming dj's who have old school flavor fill out the line up. the second room should be for the new school flavor that will take drum 'n' bass into it's second decade. there are plenty of dj's in the midwest who represent this sound. m.i.a. crew comes to mind. there are also plenty of contributors to this site who i'm sure would come out and play to support the site and the sound.
i would also like to officially offer my services to the gej crew for this event. i have a whole crate full of slammin' ragga/dub for this type of thing, and i'm in the midwest, so i can help promo as well.
let's get this thing off the ground, and show the midwest how it's done!

Pretty chill for northern Oakville/Milton.
So without furethur adu, you guys in the mid-west, do you know of any farms in the area that are free. Lucky for us some ol skool bikers were down for a house/jungle jam. They of course ran the booze flex.

I love GEJ. I would go wherever an event is held. But.... I hope it is not a rave. I'm guessing that most of the regulars in this forum who shared the original jungle experience are probably aproaching 30 years of age. I'm not trying to exclude any groups, but c,mon I havn't been to a rave in close to 10 years. Please doen't make me go to a rave. A club in the city would be nice.
