So in 95 I bought this lp ..
Shy FX - Just An Example
Artist Title
A1. Shy FX - Bonus For Marco (Intro)
A2. Shy FX (feat. Gunsmoke) - Gangsta Kid (T-Power Hyper Funk Mix)
B1. Shy FX (feat. MC Det) - We Nah Ease Up
B2. Shy FX (feat. Gunsmoke) - Gangsta Kid (Part 2: L Double Remix)
C1. Shy FX (feat. Stepz MC) - Nasty
C2. Shy FX - This Style
D1. Shy FX (feat. UK Apache) - Dubplate
D2. Shy FX - Cry (T-Power Remix)
E1. Shy FX (feat. David Boomah) - Who Run Tings?
E2. Shy FX (feat. Gunsmoke) - Gangsta
F1. Shy FX (feat. Gunsmoke) - Gangsta (Part 2: The Final Chapter)
F2. Shy FX (feat. UK Apache) - Original Nuttah
Then I sold it in 96 cos at the time it was so mashed when I played it no-one would dance and because of that unique eq sound that shy had I felt it didnt sit right in a mix with other tunes.. wtf !! what was I thinking.. one of the best artist albums ..hardly eva see it ..any 1 have it?.. prolly cost x amount on ebay now.. haha ..I got bout £6.00 for it at berwick street |

It's on discogs for 35 BGP. Hey, that's only 29.00 less than you got haha!
It isn't the most diffult to track down... you're bound to find it cheaper if you check the usual suspects for a month or so. I've been out of it for a while now, so that isn't 100% I bet STG knows exactly what's up.
I can't speak for the culture around the tune (too played out, huh?) - but these tunes definitely stick out in a mix. Is there anything exclusive to the LP on here? Dubplate is a Simple Tings tune, right? If I remember correctly, that one is very similar to his remix of Shabba's "Let's Get It On" -- the Shy Fx + T Power remix of that is awesome too
The clear Gangsta Kid record is one I hardly ever mixed. It's a killer to just listen to though. Come to think of it, Simple Tings was the only one in regular rotation... just drop that right after the lazer! I should mix Sound Of The Beast more often, hmmm. Those are Boomer's tunes for sure!
Anyone ever heard "Junglist Girls"? Is this only on Avex, or is it really SOUR #13? Post an mp3!!! |

Yeah, I'd recommend checking out eBay for that one, 35 pounds is a bit much for that LP. And it pops up semi-regularly.

Well, it's not only on 2 of the Avex comps but on some very limited release, and I kinda doubt SOUR013 even exists (unlucky #13). I'll rip up the Soundman mix for you when I get home.

"junglist girls" came out on a double 10" white label, with mixes from Shy FX, Potential Bad Boy, and don lloydie????(i think????) and someone else......
no, its not a Sour release cuz it has a different cat # (unless they used a different cat # for that release).
I know 2 peeps with it. I kick myself in the ass for not getting it years ago
edit: I almost forgot, has UK Apache on the vocals, one of his best songs IMHO
I got the Shy FX and PBB version on one of my old data discs from when i had to format years ago.........

WTF happened to that wonderful "Shy sound," I start to grimmace when I hear tracks he made in recent years. But I guess that could be said about loads of other artists as well. Nevertheless, I will keep playing both "Simple Tings" records and my SOUR releases from Shy I have and I will get the same reaction from the crowd everytime..... . Killers every time!!! |

Sorry guys....
I don't really dig the tunes he's making these days. If he did some throwback shit I'm sure it would be on point. In my opinion his newer tunes post 98' are at time monotonous and boring. I still have major respect for him and definitely T Power...But I guess in the end I'm just a sucker for the classics! |
