yeah I love ragga jungle too Anon. Not when it's done badly or if the people behind it are dissing the rest of the jungle scene tho.
Read my post in Leftoverz "Soundmurderer & SK1" rips thread for more ragga debating by yours truly.
Downloading the mix now, bit miffed that the dude DMD has used that Eek A Mouse tune Ganja Smugglin' tho, I wanted to do that! lol
safe anyway bruv
Edit - This mix is sounding good!! Never heard of those producers before. Some nicely produced tunes there! Nice one

Those above are the people in my opinion that are carrying the original jungle feel with all the good breaks and sounds whilst still being new school. They are also recognised names in the scene and regularly headline events around the world, and feature in Knowledge magazine etc. Paradox is especially responsible for making sure the real jungle vibe never dies. He has released literally hundreds of amen style tunes since 1993 and continues to now. The above people tend to release high quality new jungle with a serious feel to it.
If you want the novelty ragga sound, then the American producers Gritty mentioned are the ones to go for.
LOL, Burn...I didn't know who you were talking about before when you mentioned American producers, but now I know...and agree (although, I think of them more as breakcore or whatever...but I guess Gritty said that already.) I also agree with you on your reccomendations and that those artists have more to do with the original sound of jungle...but you know dat! And yes, Breakage is THE fucking MAN!

I know, I hate to seem like I'm putting that scene down, but I just don't think the quality of production is up to scratch, and often the tracks have poor structure and the beats can be a garbled mess. I'm not sure how a lot of those people's track translate to a big system either. Also there is the issue of sounding too obviously ragga and therefore a bit cheesy. On the other hand I love Sum-One's tracks and a couple of other guys tracks that are considered a part of that scene. I think it has a lot of potential but is a very amateurish sounding in general, at the moment anyhow.
But yeah, Breakage is amazing, he totally captures a dubby style of production and still shines. He also uses a bunch of really crappy equipment but still manages to make quality music. Not sure what he's up to at the moment, seems to have slowed a bit and gone onto dubstep a bit more.
In my opinion in our jungle/d&b at the moment, Theory is wiping the floor with the majority of artists - http://www.theorymusic.info/ Go to the music player and enjoy the 42 tracks!! Trust me, holy shit!!

Yeah, Theory is also top notch...and I'm not just saying that cause he's on here!
I also try not to talk shit but, to me, there's just no comparing nicely crafted jungle tracks with some kind of musicality to them to tracks that are basically a bunch of thrown-together breaks and over-used ragga samples. Don't get me wrong...the right person can make a track that is little more than that and, depending on their ear and attention to detail, give it that "x factor" of musicality, but that is the exception. At the same time, I think a lot of people try to make more musical tracks and lose the balls of the original jungle sound. I think making good jungle is a balancing act, really...it shares the "rough with the smooth" aspect of good reggae. Go too far in one direction and you'll probably miss the mark.
Didn't know about that player...now I know what I'm listening to at work today!!!

True dat...most of my favorite tracks are mostly just a couple really good breaks, a pinch of bass, and a dash of atmos. It's easier said than done, though. I'm learning to restrain myself from putting in everything but the kitchen sink.
