Peep these mixes/artists:

RAW
MACHETE
CRS?
Josh Swissman
Deacon
Hive

Straight westcoastin jungle business right here!

Damn I love this site... this is the ish that inspired me and got me into dnb 9 years ago. Jungle has evolved so much snce then : the sound, venues, promos, media, comercialism, dnb vs jungle as the reference term. Today's SOCAL scene is more vibrant then ever and has made an undeniable impact on the dnb community at large due to the SOCAL/LA pioneers that pushed this sound and this movement since day one such as RAW, MACHETE, CRS?, DEACON to name a few.

In my opinion you can not understand SOCAL/LA dnb without knowing it's history. We have our own sound and style, which is a direct depiction of our culture. Our djs got mad skills ...can scratch, we got bboys and poppers reppin, top notch encees and producers. Peep Machete's 'cuttin mixtape for a taste of what LA dnb's roots are all about.

It always gets me how we are blind to your scenes in America. It seems you have strong scenes in parts of the US, but we never heard about them here. Those guys you mention are not known as pioneers in the jungle scene. If they were pushing the sound in the US back in the beginning then it's a shame that they are not acknowledged in the jungle scene. They are unknown in the UK. How come? Surely they should get the same credit as Grooverider and the gang if they were pioneers too?

Just out of interest, what sound is coming out of LA?

Yea....it's pretty crazy how stateside jungle dj's didn't seem to crossover the big pond in the 90's......although there were like 4-5 raves a week in the Midwest, so I guess people were alway's booked full up........glad they were too!

But per the original question of reppin n local scenes.....i'm from Milwaukee.....so being north of Chicago n in the land of Massive n Drop bass, i've been in a nice spot.....regularly seeing 3D & Snuggles, Snuggles & Slak, Johnsin, JJ Jellybean, Phantom 45, Danny The Wildchild, Dr Groo, Casper, Time Stretch, Delinquent, n on n on n on...

Reppin the Midwest strong smiley
