Telepathy
I knew we were going to review this
Ruff riding.... Steppin' up with the beats deep in the Jungle, with celebrities...and Junglist from all points - North, South, East and West, that was the Telepathy Album Launch Party at the Island in Ilford.
This was a joint venture between the Telepathy Promotions and Breakdown Records in an onslaught to create a unique concept in Jungle entertainment.
Killing one bird (the ravers) with two stones (the album and the rave....the work of abstract thinkers in pursuit of progress).
Inside the plush Ilford Island decorated in stylish resemblance of the land of the pharoah's.
It was jam...se-le-e-ctor!! No selectors, that night we heard the most contagious dubplates we ever heard with the hard line-up.
The MC's were spectacular, with all the ravers in cloud nine off the atmosphere that was created on this night, which seemed like an eternity.
If you would like to have a 'breeze' on this kinda wicked scene ya, you can catch Club Telepathy at the Wax every Friday, with the best DJ's on rotation.
Jungle Nations
3rd Birthday Bash
We went down to the Laserdrome on Friday 23rd June to help Jungle Nation celebrate their 3rd Birthday.
We pulled up outside at around 12pm, and walking up the stairs we could already hear the pumping bass. The search was thorough, as we had to go through metal detectors ! We gave someone the magic word and were given our tickets and VIP passes.
We ventured in further to Arena 2, which was still pretty empty, but it is a big venue to fill out! Taking over one corner of the arena was the Global Explosion merchandising stall, which looked wicked it had just about everything on it, tapes, lighters, jackets, caps, T-shirts, horns, whistles and not forgetting the sweets!
Then on to Arena 1 through all the little doorways, this was my first experience at the Laserdrome, and it was everything everyone had told me. It was fascinating looking around at the decor, and seeing the people on the high walk ways which overlooked the dance floor.
The place was filling up, so we found somewhere to stand (which just happened to be in front of the speakers!) and started dancing, with the one and only Stevie Hyper Dee hyping up the crowd, keeping them rocking. And with the line up ahead this was sure to be a good night. After being left on my own (thanks Curtis!) I wandered into the VIP area to see what was going on. People were standing about and dancing, a couple of girls were brave enough to go on the stage, and there are something's that obviously can't be printed (joke), but there was nice enough atmosphere so I took a space next to the speaker overlooking the crowd.
When Det got on the mic, with "Brockie, my DJ" between them they 'killed it', the crowd loved it. A few hiccup's with Mics, but the engineers soon sorted that out. Just watching MC Det on stage, made me feel tired, Where does he get his energy from ?, how he managed to keep jumpin' and chattin' to the high standard that he does, for so long is amazing.
There was no trouble all night, and if there was I missed it. The security were virtually invisible, but they were there (if you know what I mean). The Ladies had an attendant, so that meant there was actually toilet paper all night! and they were kept clean, which is better than some other venues, you know where I mean.
By 6am the arenas were emptying out and there were ravers who looked like they were asleep around the sides of the room, by this time I was very near to joining them, so we headed out back to North London. Overall a good night, the DJs were wicked, the venue was good and the atmosphere was alright. Big up Roy!

PRODUCER
ADAM F.
Written by Mahe La Digue
photo's courtesy of Section 5
I asked Adam F if he would answer some questions about himself for Prestige. Now being a busy man with producing etc he compromised by talking to me from home. Describing himself to the 'Max', here is what Adam F had to say...
Early '94. My first bite of the Jungle scene. Coming from three years of solid songwriting and performing, I was mainly a singer but has produced and played on every style of music from Jazz, Ballads, R&B to Funk, Rare Groove and Film.
A friend I'd known at school and hadn't seen for ages got in touch and when we met he told me about his involvement in the scene, (owner of De Jay & L.S) saw my talent for other music and suggested I try this style. At that time most of the Jungle I was hearing wasn't doing anything for me and gave me no inspiration or buzz. It took many a long hour in the studio and probably three releases before I started getting any real flow or understanding of the music. Thank goodness for Bukem, when tracks like 'Music' started popping up, it was then I began to realise this could be yet another type of music I could firstly enjoy and equally get truly involved in.
The music I am creating now is part of a natural progression, still learning and understanding all the time. I feel my next track will always be different from the last, due to my hunger for new styles and experimentation. Up to date I've had six releases starting with Lucky Spin to De Jay and now Section 5, plus a re-mix for Moving Shadow. My relationship with Section 5 allows me the versatility of my own creativity and due to that, I feel my foothold in the Jungle scene will become stronger as my productions move on.
I won't stop singing, as that's what I will be doing much more of in the near future and my songwriting for different types of music is still getting a touch of my time, which is important to me as I need to be continually expanding my mind.
I remember my first track on Section 5, 'The Bible' and another release on a different label with a similar religious title. Steve from Section 5 said everyone he gave the promo to was saying "What's up with Adam F, is he religious or something?". Well I do believe in a Creator and am thankful for this life, as I feel we all should be (I have just recovered from a BAD car crash). 'The Bible' featured an African Preacher and anyone with something positive to say, in my eye's and ear's, should be heard. My name is Adam F was simply chosen because

Interview
I thought, if in a couple of years I have had success, (which I will) it would be nice to know that 'I' did the tracks, rather than a.k.a. But I do plan a new artist name in the next couple of months to carry some seriously updated and hard work I've done on some new fresh tracks, although the writers name will still be mine.
I work from home from a studio I financed from cleaning thousands of cars and demonstrating and selling Magic Trick and anything else I could do to get the dollars! There's nothing better than getting an idea at 3am and knowing that in the next room are all the tools to work on it. As I'm sure is the case with all artists, there's loads of half started tracks waiting to be finished and sometime months later you come back to them and maybe just pull an idea off them and create a whole new track. My studio is next to my bedroom so I can just roll out of bed into the studio and vice versa.
As each track goes on, I'm finding I'm using less samples and reverting back to my own feels from percussion playing to create my drum pattern and my piano and guitar playing for the harmony in the music. In time I'll try a vocal, but I'll sit on the fence for the time being with that one.
I asked, Is the Jungle scene progressing? YES, YES, YES! thanks to all the determined and original artists into what I see as a more musical style which suits me. It's got to keep moving forward, it's got to keep progressing to stay alive.
When I do a track I prefer to feel things rather than look for specifics which is what I like about and see in artists from labels such as:-Good Looking, Photek, Full Cycle, V Records, Moving Shadow, Philly Blunt, Metalheads.
So far, twoons I've already produced like 'Enchanted' have been remixed by Krust and Nookie. These are directed to be released around now and in the near future. DJ Harmony and Pascal have also remixed two tracks of mine, 'Burning' and 'What Ya Sayin'. They'll be released in the not so distant future, as well as my 'Lighter Style', 'Lighter Style remix' and 'Circles'. Section 5 is the label these twoons will be associated with. I've recently completed a project for F.F.R.R (London Records), something creatively different which should be making waves round September time. P.A's I've done so far were at the Laserdrome, Equinox and Astoria.
I want to keep expanding and working with as many styles of music and producers as possible in order to develop my work and achieve my maximum.
Shouts:- 'Treat the earth and all that dwell thereon with RESPECT', (especially those who make 'Tearing Twoons'!)
Next Month, Mahe La Digue will be meeting up with Steve from Section 5 for another interview about his label, which is connected with Moving Shadow. Also loads of other questions linked with the Jungle scene and music, being a man with alot of up-front information - you'll be foolish to miss it!

Hardcore, Jungle and House.
What raves have you played at?
I'm a resident at Dream FM at Labyrinths, Car Wash 1991, Earthquake, Jungle Lick and Gas Club.
Why do you think you should be successful?
I have my own style, I don't think it's a matter of slamming in twoons but creating an atmosphere for the crowd, which I do. I work with MC Micro on Dream FM on Sundays from 6-8pm.
What are your plans in order for you to succeed?
Well I'm currently working on a track of my own.
What type of track is it?
It's a Hardcore track with New Blood.
What are your plans as far as DJing?
I want to carry on DJing, but be making some twoons as well.
Where do you think you'll be in 1996?
Hopefully I'd like to have a record shop and start up a label.

WHITELOCKS
interview by Triple Dee
We first spotted MC Whitelocks at Planet Earth, Oscars in Clacton-On-Sea. It was not very hard to notice MC Whitelocks coarse savage voice and versatile style of MCing. Whitelocks started his chatting seriously about four years ago. Before that he used to chat at parties with a ragga sound that he used to move with. I managed to track him down for an interview.
What sort of places have you played at?
Innersense at Laserdrome, Revelation, Destiny, Energy, Atmosphere raves and Tribal Dance, there the ones that come to mind instantly.
What do you think about Jungle music?
It's progressed to a higher stage and will always be developing. At the end of the day Jungle music is here to stay in one form or another, fe real !
What type of twoons do you like chattin' to?
More Jungle Drum and Bass style but really when it comes to it I can drop lyrics to Hardcore, Hardstep Jungle, basically all forms of Jungle.

PROFILE
MOVING SHADOW
By Kajsa Nystrom
Moving Shadow, founded in 1990 by Robert Playford, is to me one of the models of a modern organisation within the underground music industry. Not only does Moving Shadow produce records, it also has it's own publishing company, subsidiary labels, record store (Section 5), merchandise, and also runs special Moving Shadow raves (Voodoo Magic). Diversity is the motto of today's music industry, and Rob Playford certainly makes that guideline become reality.
Who is the man behind the label then? Well, Rob Playford started DJing in the 1980's, covering House, Techno and Acid. His first track 'Orbital Madness' achieved cult status on the dance scene and other artists started coming to him for advice. As a producer/composer, Rob has worked with many different artists, for example Goldie, when being a part of Metalheads. Within the company Rob Playford's name is behind a big part of the tracks released. Today the Moving Shadow is a dynamic project, and many persons involved in the running of the different sectors of the company. Moving Shadow was named label of the year by I-D Magazine in 1994.
They earned this title for "their consistently brilliant series of single released throughout the year".
However, the success of a label, in the end depends on the music being put out. Moving Shadow seems to have chosen a collection of acts that have been, and hopefully will continue taking the label far. In January 1995, Mixmags LP of the Month was Omni Trio's 'Vol 3 - The Deepest Cut'. This was only one of many write-ups that the one mane trio has gotten since its start. Rob Haigh being a shy guy (he won't let his face appear in press pictures), has had his tracks taken to the heart of the critics, who doesn't seem to have enough superlatives to describe the music of Omni Trio. Other artists on the Moving Shadow label include Foul Play, Renegade, Essence of Aura (featured in Issue 5), Cloud Nine and others.
In short Moving Shadow is a name to look out for. Talent and know-how (at least according to the critics) makes this label a potent force on the Jungle scene.

T.C. PROMOTIONS presents TOTAL CONFUSION
at the Jaque of clubs
Friday 4th August sees the launch of Total Konfusion a new Jungle night at Jaque of Clubs, for the sophisticated raver. With resident DJs; Justice, Kryme, Papa-D and Bias from Eruption FM in the house, plus guest DJs from Conflict and Kool FM, on rotation promised for future dates. with that impressive line-up, the night promises to offer the best in Hardcore and Jungle, and there after every other Friday night.
South of the river has it's fair share of Jungle nights and clubs, but Jaque of Clubs has to offer one of the cheapest admission prices (pardon the cliché !) in town! The venue, wine bar cum club had that 'just right' atmosphere, cosy with a seriously plush interior!, a spacious dance floor, and plenty of rooms to chill out, and enjoy the sound. The night is bound to be a certified roadblock, I for one will be there to avoid early disappointment, I suggest you do the same! Look out in the next issue of Prestige of the review of this night.

A TRIBUTE TO JUNGLETTES
TON Promotions
By Kajsa Nystrom
Ton Promotions is a DJ agency based in Lea Bridge Road and holds some of the top Jungle DJs, and is run by two very sharp women; Tracey W and Nikki C.
TON Promotions was formally established in March 1995. Tracey and Nikki say that it took a good two years to get established in the scene, and to build a reputation. It started with one DJ, and today TON Promotions represents 34 DJs and artists. They have started working with another agency in Germany and hope to expand the business further in the future.
How did you get the idea to start the agency?
Tracey: I met Kenny Ken about four years ago. A year after that I started to get bookings for him, just calling up promoters all over the country. It started from there really. Later when I moved to London a friend of Kenny got to know me and thought that maybe I could do the same thing for them. I met Nikki through Kenny, and she started to work with me.
Nikki: I started to do some work for Ash-A-Tack, and later merged with Tracey.
What does your work consist of? How do you get a DJ to stand behind the turntables at a rave or a club?
Both: In the beginning we used to do promotional work, calling rave promoters and offering our services, now they call us! We do have up and coming DJs, many of them call us and hope that we are able to promote them, but it doesn't work that way.
Nikki: The DJ has to put in as much work as we do. We can't produce demo tapes for them, they have to promote themselves as well. The main reason for this is that we don't have time. The number of DJs on the scene now also makes it harder to break within the scene.
Both: A promoter calls us up and we check the diary to see if that particular DJ is available that day and time. We have to check that they have enough travelling time, if they are doing two gigs the same day. The first call is usually provisional, and later there is a confirmation call. Then we send out a contract and invoice them for the amount to be paid. If they work abroad or way up North, we also have to make hotel reservations, and make sure that all surrounding arrangements like food, transport etc. are taken care of. We are almost like mothers to them! On Friday

A TRIBUTE TO JUNGLETTES
Nikki and Tracey working at the Ton Promotion offices
we call them all up to let them know where they are going, how long it takes to get there, directions and how much money they have to pick up. On Saturday we call them all again to check. Did you get there? Why didn't you turn up? (laugh) Why were you in that part of the country when you were supposed to have been in this part of the country?
Do you go to the events yourselves, or can you run the whole business from the office?
Both:We do run everything for here, but we like to go out to see what is going on at the events, listen to the music and hear how people play. That is a very important part of the job. You can't promote someone and do their bookings if you don't know how they play. We also go out to see what the crowd is like, and how other DJs play.
Artists and musicians are known for being very hard to take care of. Moreover, many persons claim that artists cannot really take care of themselves. Is it a hassle being a Manager?
Both: Before, DJs used to do a lot of our work on their own. But now a lot of DJs are also producing music as well as playing it, so they are too busy to be dealing with diaries and bookings. Also the promoters find it alot easier to deal with a Manager than directly with the DJs and artists.
How is it being a woman in this male dominated industry? What is the reaction from your customers, i.e. promoters etc?
Both: Because we have been on the scene for a few years, we know most of the people we are in contact with. As for new clients, we have established a reputation and most promoters already know us, or at least know about us. We
do have problems occasionally, people getting rude, but you just have to brush it off. You have to be strong to survive in this industry.
And the people you represent, do you ever have any gender related problems with them?
Both: Oh no, they stick by us all the time. When we started up this business and promoters approached us with the "so-who-are-you" attitude, the DJs gave us alot of support.
Do you think there is a general trend towards more women in the business?
Both: There are more women in the music business now than just a couple of years ago. There are essentially three London based DJ agencies right now, Groove Connection, Unique Artists and ourselves, all run by women.
Finally Tracey and Nikki would like to make clear that contrary to certain rumours, the DJ Agencies are getting on well with each other, there is no rivalry, and they keep each other up-to-date with what's happening.
Shouts to: Big Respect to Kenny Ken - none of this would have happened without you, Respect to Sara at Groove Connection - always at hand for advice, Caroline at Unique Artists, and all the DJs who support us and Christian in Germany.

PRODUCER PROFILE
D'CRUZE
by Triple D
Within the Jungle scene there are several producers who are consistently producing musical excellence. D'Cruze is such a producer. The reputation does not stem from on Jungle hit but from a collection of tracks some of which can be labelled 'before it's time'.
To take you back a bit D'Cruze started producing music at 15 with real success becoming apparent at 18. This was the time D'Cruze had 'What A Rush' released on Boogie Times Records. Since then there has been at least eleven tracks and plenty of remixes.
Now 22, more mature, D'Cruze says "I see how I'ave progressed when I listen to my old tracks". Clearly this is demonstrated earnestly in 'Control' jay's first album on Suburban Base Records. This album consists of some of the most torrential Jungle sounds of this season, including the tracks that was rockin the under 18's rave on Tuesday 25th at the Ilford Island, the Congo Natty launch party, Ah London Sumting and many other clubs. 'Are We In' the remix is included on this album, 'Can't Be Trusted' and 'All Night Groove'.
'All Night Groove' is hot with vocals from Aura. It has a funky vibe with a subtle ragga flavour in it.
The album which we listened to intently is rated to perform better than 'Watch Out' released on Suburban Base Records which is one of D'Cruze's best performing tracks. We asked D'Cruze several questions just to gauge his overall mental capacity.
What are your aspirations at the moment?
Definitely to get a bigger mixing desk, a studio master.
Where do your musical influences derive from?
From everything really, Hip Hop, Jazz, Jungle, Hendrix, just about everything. It's the break beats that get me and the way you can change them. There is so many avenues of Jungle, I think the best is yet to come. As technology gets better I think most producers will have more power to wield new sound ideas.
How did you get into the music?
I'ave always been into the music, I liked break beats from electro days.
Who do you hang out with and work with?
Mostly I hang out with Ruff Intelligence, that's Kevin and Adam. I'ave worked with Mickey Finn on a remix for 'Watch Out' which dropped wickedly. Also Danny Donnelly, Dave Nodz and Future Assasins.
What are your plans for the future?
To make more music, I'm experimenting and I do want to get involved in breaks, who knows what it will be called in five years time - Jungle.
Shouts to Nicky, John & Tony, Gary G, A-Side, Suburban Base Massive, Magna Carta Cru, Hype, Flex, Ruff Intelligence.

PRODUCER PROFILE HIT MAN AH COME!!
MARVELLOUS KILLER CAIN
part deux
Marvellous Cain who we part featured in Issue 5 (A Night With De Hitman) is not just a wicked DJ but one of the new breed of new jungle producers.
Killer Cain's serious producing career started early 1994 with "The Hitman" (limb by limb). Born in Park Royal, London, Marvellous Killer Cain grew up in Basingstoke where he still lives today. The benefits of living at home with mum to cater is evident to most DJs, producers and artists and Cain is no exception.
Marvellous Cain who is now exclusively signed to Suburban Base Records, releases his debut Album, "Gun Talk". Also to be released is a series of body breakin; 12 tracks guaranteed to be floor smashers. The Album "Gun Talk" is an 8 track DJ Friendly double vinyl and is also available on 10 track CD tape format.
12" tracks to be shortly released are "Boogie Down", "Easy Life" on Suburban Base Records and "Guiness Punch" to be released on IQ Records. Also "The Gunman", "The Crash", "War in 94" and "The Killer" which is on the Telepathy Album, (which we reviewed in issue 5 vol 1) Remixes due out by Marvellous Cain are DJ Rap's "Poison Chung", "Lets get Ready" remix "Gun Man" remix.
Although Killer Cain's producing career began in 1994 he had been mixing as a DJ for six years playing at venues like Sterns, Yikes the Laserdrome and in the early days Overdose at Soho Theatre, London. It has taken ages for Marvellous Cain to get recognition in the scene and in that time hard work and money has been injected to reach this stage.
Currently CB4 by Cain on Suburban Base Records is running' the dance floors red and very much in demand alongside the dub for Boogie Down. A contrast to CB4 Boogie Down starts with sweet female sighs of eh ooh eh hugh then a coarse Hoo!! Hoo!! with the last of the Hoo!! breaks into a splendid pattern of drums and bass that takes you deeper into the track. Definitely listen out for this when you hear Rider, Hype, Probe or Brockie playin' out "You are now jamming to the Boogie Down!"
When Prestige spoke to Marvellous Killer Cain we asked him who he felt had helped him to break through
"Sponge, (Big Up Me brethren Sponge to the Max) done me good. He linked me up with Danny Donnely at Suburban Base Records. He fix me up from youth days! I guess on the DJing side I would say Brockie. Brockie was the first man to have "The Hit Man" which he wielded to de massive at the sound clash last summer. Big Up Brockie he killed the track for me."
Do you make your twoons on your own?
"Sometimes I work with Sponge but most of the times he falls asleep..... when the twoon done Sponge wakes up 'n' says it's a wicked twoon we jus done huh ha ha!
I'm working on a track with Rude Boy Monty.
Shouts from Killer Cain . . .

Interview
PROFILE
Mikee B.
Mr Versatile
Interview by CAJ
I went to see on the Ole Skool, who is still playing music for the whole dance scene; House, Garage, Hardcore, Jungle, Soul and Rare Grooves. I just had to know how he juggled all this music and still keeps up.
What's your real name?
Micheal Benon
And your age?
27ish (chuckling to himself!!)
Where were you born?
I was born in Kingston, Jamaica
How did your career begin?
Well, it started at a very early age, when I was at school I use to play at school disco's and it progressed to when I left school and started raping to my ragga, soul. It was Rap attach who inspired me to make my own rare groove sounds. Which was called Funky Express, who Prestige knows were big in the Eighties.
From there it's like the music industry were waiting for something, and Acid House came along. So I went to a party and I knew I could do this, my first break was with Amnesia House in Coventry.
Who inspired you?
Myself I'd say, I've been that way from day one.
Do you enjoy your work? What are your highs and lows?
Yes, I love my work. The lows are playing on sh*t equipment, so that you can't get you quality across, I'd rather play to an empty rave with good equipment than vice versa.
What's the best rave you've played at? And have you played abroad?
Dreamscape, Fantazers the big one etc. And yes, I have played abroad in Canada twice, Ibiza, Australia, and I'll be back there again this year with my partner Jason Kaye.
Do you think the attitude of today's raver has changed?
Yes and no, no and yes, if that makes sense !!! The drugs, the different ages and of course the different music, the togetherness has gone, it's more of a fashion and a quick buck.
What are the first three tracks you would start a set with?
MC Creed is one of my power plays, their other tracks I can't tell you about, because I haven't heard a DJ playin' it (chuckle chuckle from Mikee). I start a set with something you don't need to mix in.
Which label is your favourite?
I'd say Nice 'n' Ripe, Strictly Rhythm because they add a bit of spice to there music.
Who's your favourite DJ?
Myself (!), Jason Kaye, Matt Jam, Norris Windross, Grooverider and Fabio.
What would you be doing if you weren't DJing?
I'm a creative person, so I'd say a Paul Ince role in the mid-field at some club. When I was 10 a Leeds scout wanted me to play for the junior team, but true I'd just come over though it was too far from London and that my mum wouldn't let me, so I said no.
Have you made any tracks?
A few 'Living In Darkness' did the best as in sell, at the moment me and my partner are working with George Kelly from One Tribe on a Drum and Bass track. We are looking forward to doing a track on a House tip this year.
What are your plans for the future?
Keep on trying, you can plan ahead, but I'm a day to day man. You don't know what the future holds to keep going 100%. I might not make it big, but I could win the lottery and I'd be nice then.
What do you predict for '95?
Things are looking up since I've been on my own, especially the House scene, the works coming in and I'm playing on a new radio station called London Underground, and we're getting alot of feedback. I'm a very versatile man and love all different music so I will always get bookings because I play to all the dance scene, that's my secret; versatility.
If you had unlimited resources, what would you do?
I'd have a studio and apart from the other things in life, a nice house, a car, I'd invest and do something to help the new generation. I wouldn't get big headed, that's not me.
How do you spend your free time?
Watching Football and keeping up with the different music.
A few words of wisdom from Mikee B...In Eternity there's a column on Top Buzz split up, you wouldn't believe everything you read in the newspaper, so treat this article the same. Peace !
Shouts to Raindance Crew, Flashback Crew, LaCoste Crew, Club music at Raw, The Gas Crew, Nikii, Bitch, Couldn't fit no more in Mikee B
You can catch Mikee B on London Underground on 98.2FM on Sundays between 4pm-6pm his show's called A Little Love Affair.

Unique Artists
Unique Artists was formed after a hectic start for Caroline who runs the business. Having worked for someone else and got messed around, setting up your own thing is the bond that most Jungle music businesses relate to most apart from the music.
Not surprisingly Caroline set up her agency in early '92. Having her own clientele meant that she could start her own operation with assets already acquired: Donovan (Bad Boy) Smith, Randall, Hype and Fluid Motion.
Now nearly four years on, 'tings are fluctuating still. Slightly more hectic, more artists acquired.
The full list includes (in addition): Andy C., Darren Jay, Roni Size, Simon "Bassline" Smith, Marly Marl, Probe, Cool hand Flex, Phantasy, G.Q., Five O, Flux and Back to Basics.
Probably the most crucial task facing Jungle agencies is convincing promoters to hire new talent.
I asked Caroline how hard she found the whole ball game...
"Stress" was her answer with an addition "When you're promoting 11 DJ's, 3 MC's and a label and trying to keep them all happy, it's really hard.
You have got to spend as much time on each artist.
So I always push for all my DJ's to promoters".
Caroline feels that although there is a lot of work for MC's overseas that it's being undercut by other MC's offering cheaper prices.
Currently the agency gets work overseas and is hoping to expand in both the overseas and home Jungle market.
How do you choose your DJ's, I asked Caroline...
"They have got to have a certain style, a unique style you could say. I recently took on Marly Marl and Probe for this reason. Marly Marl's style is really pure drum and bass and Probe is more like Brockie, fierce and tight in mixing and good selection.
All my artists complement each other".
Shouts: All my artists, all producers making good music, Craig and Tamsin.

Gun Talk Teaser Marvellous (Killer Cain)
CB4
Probably the most temperamental bassline I've ever heard. I first heard this track at Club One Nation when Killer Cain rinsed it solid. This is a Mambi twoon
Babaloo
The lyrics are catchy with a rollin drum and bass "Lyrics to move" "lyric to make em rock" "Hot like mee-me-e"
Hitman (final clip) Serious......

Jump Up
Wickedly arranged with sweet female vocals this track will take you into fantasies you've never dreamt of.
Burning Love.
Black Star - Lion
"Kunta Kinte" - this is the track that's been mixed by Ron and others.
A distinctive bass train with that fluentie horn. Well constructed, beautifully arranged it stands out.
Champion DJ.
Sound Clash dub of Kunta Kinte - oh gosh this one is remixed to kill holl up on soundboys.
- Million
Darkest of dark lyrics to be taken heed of. If it's lyrics you want Rebel MC is busting it red with a tremendous bass. Pure musical action.
Jungle Massive 4
This is a giant 'ripper' of an album, with 32 tracks covering a wide spectrum of Jungle music from Hardstep, Ragga to drum + bass.
Definately an album for everyone with '95 classics like "Fire," "Arsonist" VIP remixes and new heavyweight tracks like "Bomber" by Aphrodite (this twoon is a real stinger).
"9mm" by B.U.G. K.A.H.N, "Baad Boy Sound" by MTS. "Mash Them Down" - Rude Boy Monty.
Probably Jungle's most wanted albums!
NEWS
DJ Tamsin, who recently come from Berlin, where she was demonstrating pure drum and bass Jungle for the Jerries, is currently working on a track with Adam F. (featured in this issue).
Briefly speaking to Tamsin she pledged her allegiance to the pure drum and bass hardcore Jungle days of the early Roast era.
Tamsin is also in the process of enhancing her private studio.
Bookings for Tamsin can be made through Unique Artists.
Incidently, Tamsin made her debut appearance in Issue 3 Vol. 1, and we noted MTV recently featured "A Better Way" produced by Tamsin.
Ladies, Ladies, Ladies.....Yes an all new Junglette group called Serenity is due to release a track called "Sunrise" on Feminine Charm Records. The track put together at Raw Material Studio is geared as a mid-Summer lovin' Jungle hit, with the sweetest vocals you've ever heard!

RADIO
Now That's What I call
Jungle
How widespread has jungle become? Well, the fact that it has reached Radio 1 in an undiluted form just goes to show that those on the underground do want the music to surface. Claire Covey looks at the new jungle showcase launched by Radio 1 in July.
The Radio 1 jungle showcase started in July and will be continuing throughout August each Thursday night at 9pm. The first show, hosted by Navigator was a kind of attempt at an in depth look at the roots of jungle. but the roots are so spread out that it is hard to capture just exactly where and whom it originally stemmed from, but they did quite well it being not too controversial.
Starting on 20th July there will follow seven shows entitled One In The Jungle and the roll call is as follows:
20th July - Goldie
27th July - Rap and Moose
3rd August - Roni Size & Dynamite
10 August - Kenny Ken & Five P
17th August - A Guy Called Gerald
24th August - Shy FX & UK Apache
31st August Brockie & Det.

EXPOSURE
Club: Exposure
Venue: Options
Location: Kingston-on-Thames, South London
Date: Every Tuesday, from July 1995 10pm - 3am
Exposure is a new and kicking rave for all those who want to venture to the outer reaches of South London on Tuesday night. And believe me there are many who do. The grand opening night featured DJ Bailey from the Inta Crew followed by the great all time twosome Fabio and Grooverider, and the night was hosted by MC Fearless.
The place was packed. And for those who haven't ever been to Options it is one of those big, plush type clubs that usually hosts mainstream kind of dances, but when transformed by a jungle promoter makes for a wicked venue. The place is huge and it was packed, definitely one for the more discerning raver who wants to rave in more of an upmarket atmosphere (i.e. the toilets are not just usable but are kinda plush, well if you compare them to normal venue anyway). With an upstairs bar for VIPs with a secret stash of fee drinks the kind that you only get if you give the barman the right kind of nod, or bring your friend up to flutter her eyelashes, don't worry we cracked it at about quarter to two, better late than never!!!
Anyway, check this one for a week night out with a bit of a kick. It knocks the stuffing out of other West End jungle raves whose crowd levels are suffering for one reason or another. The promoters of Exposure want to come with a new lick, and showcase different DJs and Different MCs and move away from the more raggified side of things, not into intelligent but just into a rave with a good vibe.
Forthcoming weeks will showcase the talents of Kenny, Randall, Frost, Hype, Grooverider, Kemistry & Storm, Andy C, Bukem, Darren J, plus others with MCs on rotation.
THUNDER & JOY
Club: Thunder & Joy
Venue: The Institute
Location: Birmingham
Date: Friday 30th June
As part of their countrywide tour, Thunder & Joy reached The Institute in Birmingham's city centre on Friday 30th June. Choosing to drive rather than to take the T&J coach proved to be a big mistake as according to friends who rode the coach we missed out on nuff free drinks and everything, and the ride sounded a hell of a lot more relaxing than pushing the accelerator for 100 miles up the M1.
Anyway when we finally reached we were in time to witness Devious D, who was followed by Brockie and then Randall who all played wicked. The main room was hot and packed with all the jungle lovers in the house jumping up. The crowd was mixed - young, old, black and white and everyone was in a wicked mood.
The garage room unfortunately wasn't doing so well. We ventured in to visit Matt Jam Lamont who was playing to a sole bartender, but he seemed happy enough anyway. The absence of people in the garage room was a shame because Thunder and Joy are renowned for their garage. We just put in down to the fact that the clubbers in Birmingham just aren't really into their garage.
There was a chill-out room a the top which would have been a better place for garage but had already been taken over by upcoming jungle DJs eager to flex their sills. The other chill-out bar was the mellow room for those who didn't want any music.
A few hardened Thunder and Joy followers from London town were in place but otherwise the crowd was strictly from the surrounding areas, but this was what the promoters of T & J were planning anyway - to showcase their sound to those living outside of London, as of course there are jungle and garage lovers all over the country.
Their next event will be held at the Sanctuary music arena in Milton Keynes on Saturday the 5th of August and after that T & J have plans to return to London for the autumn but watch this space for details.

PROFILE
Who The Hell is DanceMaster
Written by Brendan John Keegan ("Dancemaster")
Over the years a number of people have tried to use my stage name 'DANCEMASTER'. Some deliberately, some - by accident. After explaining to most that it was already being used and is under copyright since 1988, still to this day they try.
Currently I am in contact with my solicitors (Patent Dept, Trading Standard Office) and the Company's Investigation dept. of the DTI. They are helping me regarding a recent problem; the use of my name by another artist (Producer) and the distribution of his records by various companies. I write to put on record my objection to the use of the name 'DANCEMASTER' by anyone. I have sought legal advice on the matter and understand that the use of the name may amount to a passing-off which basically means that it is being misrepresented to the public that I am performing or providing material. I have been told that I have clear evidence to show my use of the name for some seven years and will have no problem in proving my rights to the trade name. Passing-off carries both civil and criminal consequence, but I do not wish to use either resource if the matter can be settled amicably. Normally I require that anyone ceases to use my trade name and that they will not do so ever again. I would also ask for confirmation within seven (7) days or take action against them.
I started my career (unknowingly on 6th February 1988 at the Camden Palace, London, due to the fact that I was asked to help out by one of the previous bar managers, because they were short of staff. I felt compelled and honoured to help - seeing as I had been allowed in on the club's guest list.
The management at Camden Palace were kind and decent enough to repay the compliment by allowing me to return again to the club the next week on their guest list. Whereupon I asked their permission to return to the club and help out for no pay in order to gain some knowledge and experience within the leisure industry, so that I may form a career for myself in the future.
Again they were very understanding and allowed me to do so on a temporary basis, until I had proved myself to be reliable, honest, decent and trustworthy. This I did and I am still there today! with European Leisure based at Camden Palace, continuing my leisure industry training.
I have been honoured over the years to work, train and seek advise from so many pro members of staff at many clubs, venues and radio stations, etc. from celebrities, artists, bands, management, security, DJs, MCs, laser crews, sound crews, bar staff, restaurant staff etc etc.
Here are some of the people (past and present) who I have worked with or trained under during the last seven years. People who I have tremendous respect for, I would always help any of them, as they have helped me.
But before you read their names, I suppose you're wondering how I got my name 'Dancemaster'. Well the truth is that it was given to me by the management, security and staff at Camden Palace due to the fact that I have danced.
