ATTENTION RUDE BWOYS & GIRLS....
Jungle Massive! We're back in production. My apologies to everyone for the lack of Junglized in the last few months. What have we been doin' during this time, you ask? Well, first off, we've packed-up and moved our operations to a new location. Secondly, Junglized now costs $$$ to print...which, after moving to our new address, we had none! This 'zine is still not produced to make a profit, only to promote Jungle music where it needs promoted...here in the states! This is the only reason we have to charge $$$ for ads, because it now costs us $$$ for printing and to mail this baby out!
So please write or call for our extra low ad rates! You can't beat it if you want to advertise directly to thousands of US & Canadian Junglists. The mailing list has grown enormously and we've got full US distribution.
Lastly, if you sent any news, mix tapes or any other info during the issue Number 2 period--please send us updates!! You know how fast this music changes, so bring us up to date...we'll make sure you get taken care of in a future issue.
If you don't already know, send all jungle info of any kind to the new Junglized address. If you'd like to send scene reports on a regular basis, let us know a.s.a.p. so we can reserve space. Once again, absolute respect to the Junglists that support this 'zine...you keep us going! Oh, and any comments, big-up's or criticisms (?) can be sent to us via e-mail now too:

thanx to Matty for that one....keep pushing it Jungle Fans...

Interview
UK Jungle Artist, DJ, Producer, Remixer...
WINSTON
The man behind RUN TINGS explains what "living in the Jungle" is like...and what holds true for the drum & bass future!
JUNGLIZED: You've been in the Breakbeat/Jungle scene since way back...What got you into this music?
WINSTON: When I look back at the records I've made and being involved in music all the way back, in 1995 I think the music scene has gone 'round in one big circle, really. The reason for this is that when I was a kid I was into reggae, rare groove, soul, hip hop, early house & techno. Now we have Jungle, which I see as a progression of all of those types of music forms & a mix of all of 'em together. That's what it's all about.
JUNGLIZED: Most of your DJing style today came from DJing reggae & hip-hop?
WINSTON: It's the same thing that was flying in the eighties. There's some freestyle DJ's today laying acapella tracks over drum & bass just like we did in the eighties. You know, I scratch the same way as I always did. I still hold two copies of jungle tracks...It's just the same hip-hop homeboys that were out there in the eighties, it's just they're playing jungle in the nineties. It's not really something new, it's just a different style of dance music, or, a different interpretation of the way it's made & the way it's mixed.
JUNGLIZED: What about the masses & media who have jumped on the jungle bandwagon?
WINSTON: As far as I'm concerned Jungle is the only music that's using technology & equipment to it's fullest potential, you know, time-stretching, complex drum patterns, this is all technology here it's not just about a reggae MC sampled over a "Helicopter" beat track or something..this is using technology to it's best advantage here. There's a lot of people investing alot of money in this music and it's only now that some of them are starting to get some payback and some recognition. There's people that take this music seriously for just these reasons and these are the people I believe in, you know? I thank the masses for finding the opening there is to it, but you can't rely on the masses to move it forward.
JUNGLIZED: Tell us about the new record you've got out at the moment?
WINSTON: I recently worked with Ant Miles from Liftin' Spirit Records and Origin Unknown fame. This is a drum & bass project that is out on Suburban Base. The A-side is called "Come Easy" which has got complex, amen beats & reversed basslines, etc... The B-side is rollin', percussive drums and will be called, "invinsible"! We were both really pleased at how they both came out so from here were gonna move on and start doing some fusion jungle...ragga & rare groove fusion.
I should hopefully be doing some remixes as well. At present, I'm working with DJ Dextrous & King of the Jungle on a new track and hopfully gonna be linking up with D'Cruze as well to do a project with him.
Also with the DJing as well, I'm hoping to come out to Florida this summer to hopefully do a little bit at the Edge club. Over in England, I'm doing guest shows at KOOL-FM & certain spots throughout London.

Interview
WINSTON CONTINUED...
Things are very busy and I'm happy with the way things are going at the moment 'cause progress is being made and I'm gonna keep moving forward.
JUNGLIZED: What are some records that you think were "ground-breaking" and what are your favorites?
WINSTON: My all-time classic tunes are say.... Paradox "Jailbreak; Moody Boys, "First National Rapper"; Genecide, "Two Narrow Minds"; some tracks from Suburban Base like Phuture Assasins, "Roots & Future" remix and "Shot Like Dis"; Austin's "I Get High"; DJ Hype, "Shot In The Dark"; the "Fire's Burning" remix that Danny Breaks did...the Sonz of a Loop de Loop Era remix is one of my all-time favorites and the actual "Fire's Burning" as well. "Back Again" is one of my all-time faves. As far as recent stuff: DJ Nut Nut's "Special Dedication"; "RIP" by Remark on Sub Base; my new track with Ant Miles is in great demand at the moment, so look out for that one...not because I made it, just judging from the reactions I'm getting from DJ's & the people. What else... Babylon on Dee Jay Recordings is one I'm keeping onto; Bizzy B.'s new one, "Wicked Man"; a track by Ronni Size called, "All The Crew Just Big Up" is still smashing it up every-time it gets played.
JUNGLIZED: What's coming up for the rest '95 for Jungle in general?
WINSTON: There's alot of things happening. Jungle is just carrying on peaking through 1995 in the UK. And it's definitely bigger than it was last year. I thought last year was very big...they had that big carnival again this year that was bigger than the one before.
It's become an accepted music now, you know, with KOOL-FM going professional with their merchandise. Jungle is an established music form just like any other on KISS-FM, which has a jungle show every Wednesday. CHOICE-FM now has a jungle slot on Saturday.
Jungle's been called other things in the past, but it's still the same people doing the same thing...working hard & Jungle is definitely "in there" now.
I'd like to send a shout-out to Danny Donnely and to DJ Ash working with me in the shop. Also to my homeboy AK1200, who's running things neatly over there in the US. Peace.

The Complete Lo-Down on Record Label Happenings in The Jungle Homeland!
NEW LABEL PROFILE: URBAN GORILLA • With just 3 releases so far, I predict this will be the best new label for the '95 year. UGR 001 is the massive "Pulp Fiction" by DJ Flash which is completely mashin any system it hits. Then came Dr. S. Gachet's "The Dreamer," another wicked drum & bass track featuring 'Luther King snippets and a nice touh on the female vocals. Out soon is 88.3 feat. Lisa May's beautiful "Wishin' on a Star" and you better get it fast! Excellent track! Urban Gorilla was originally set up as another branch of LABELLO BLANCO, who recently charted with the "Fire" remixes by Prizna, The demand for Labello tunes was so great, the label was becoming weighed down by it's own success. As a result, the Jungle element of the company was sectioned off and overnight suddenly "Urban Gorilla"! The label will now concentrate on producing top quality drum & bass styled tracks with cross-over appeal. Upcoming Releases include an N.C.A. Experience 12"...A-side: "The Rhythm" (Smokey Joe remix) and "Spread Luv" (Rogue Unit mix) on side B. If the new tracks continue to stay on this tip, the terrorist "Gorilla" will be swingin' from the high vines of the Jungle for a very long time! Big-up "Jungle" Jim Low & Andy Swallow, the label directors that are keeping everything straight. - AK1200
LIFTIN' SPIRIT & RAM RECORDS UPCOMING RELEASES
These guys are busy as usual. Coming soon..a new track from RED ONE plus THE INTERROGATOR's "Awareness" remix. Also, an L DOUBLE remix of last summer's "Predator" and "Within Reason" (Ant Miles remix). RANDAL & ANDY C. have a "Sound Control" remix coming out that's backed with a STAKKA & K-TEE remix of "Feel It." STAKKA & K-TEE have their own 12" coming out ("Rugged & Raw") and DESIRED STATE will release "Goes Around."
PHILLY BLUNT,
DJ JUMPIN' JACK FROST'S respected label that scored big last year with "The Burial" and "The Warning", currently have a Dilinja remix of TRINITY'S "Gangsta" set for release, as well as a track called "Girl's Dem Want It" by LONDON'S MOST WANTED. Of course, the long awaited "Warning" remixes will be out soon too. Remixing duties were given to DJ Stretch and Bryan Gee!
The LABELLO BLANCO crew have been involved with a killer ragga track burnin' the UK currently called "Some Justice '95" (the Arsonist) by Urban Shakedown & DBO General. What's comin' next from this hot label? How 'bout a cooker from dancehall legend BAGGA WORRIES w/JOOXIE NICE called "Legalize" with mixes by REMARK and DJ NUT NUT. Also, BUG KHAN and ROGUE UNIT have recently finished tracks in the studio for future release...stay tuned!

The Complete Lo-Down on Record Label Happenings in The Jungle Homeland!
Suburban Base Records steps-up on top with the current release of "Come Easy" by RunTings & Liftin' Spirits (See the Winston Interview in this issue!). D'Cruze's "Are We In Heaven" and a self-titled Sound Station (Lee from Dread Bass) 12" are set for June releases. As if that's not enough...in the near future expect: Sub Plates 4, a new Pascal (Johnny Jungle) track, 2 new tracks from Marvellous Cain, Mikey James' "Do You Dream?" and a brand new track from DJ Dextrous entitled, "Moonlighting!"
Also, a full album entitled "Telepathy...Jungle Don's Dubplate Special" will bring a whole new meaning to the word, 'compilation'. This Album/CD consists of tracks made exclusively for this project by the Telepathy DJ's including: Grooverider, Rap, Ray Keith, Hype, Roni Size, L Double, Andy C and more. These tracks will never become singles or will they ever be featured on any other compilations!
Furthermore, there's gonna be a huge record release party on June 24th in the UK for the "Telepathy" compilation featuring all the DJ's from the album & a few surprises. Any American Junglists planning to be in the UK at that time should contact Sub Base (011-44-1708-757-485) for free passes! You must show proof of American citizenship for the free tickets.
Also, while you're there, stop by the new & improved Boogie Times record store! The upstairs offices have been converted to a fat clothing store that stocks all the big name gear companies and exclusively sells Sub Base clothing & merchandise. The offices that were there have been moved along with the studios to an old bank building down the steet from Boogie Times.
Sub Base licensing deal in the US with Moonshine Records continues with the DJ Hype mixed CD release of Breakdown Records "Drum & Bass Selection Vol. 4" at the end of July. The "Telepathy" CD should be release in the US shortly after.
Although not confirmed, there is talk of the "Telepathy" party touching down in Los Angeles this summer!!!....we'll keep you informed!
New releases for the summer of '95 from Moving Shadow include a FLYTRONIX EP with the tracks: "Ricochet", "Shine a Rewind", "Return to Intelligence" & "Ethno Blast". A new ESSENCE OF AURA 12" entitled, "Let Love Shine Through" and a DEAD CALM record with the tracks, "Searchin'" & "Urban Style" will be released soon too. Watch out for a HIGHER SENSE release on Moving Shadow! It will be a new track called "Bizarre" and a M.S. remix of of "People of the Universe."
The FOUL PLAY LP has just been completed as well. Still no available title or release date as of yet.
Unity Records has a current smasher, "Mash Dem Down" by Rude & Deadly (on the No Smoking label) and they're not resting now. Look for a 12" by Stormin' Norman called "Good Day", as well two Drum Driver records....a new one, "Sing Together", and a remix of last fall's "Skyy" & "Chest Natty"

the UK BUZZ... The Complete Lo-Down on Record Label Happenings in The Jungle Homeland!
DJ Dextrous of King of the Jungle is a busy guy releasing five star tracks through at least four different labels under a few different names! Check the current UK cooker, "Hot Flame", with it's tuff drum line and wicked '89 Dirtsman sample on Subversive Records. More Subversive to come this year..."Heavenly Body" remix, "Slave to the Rhythm" and "Enter the D...."! Also look for a Tom & Jerry remix of "Selector's Roll" plus newies, "Some Sound", "A Live Ting" and "Bad Boy in the Dance" by Dextrous and TeeBone. On top of that...Dex has his hand in an Intelligent styled label called State of the Art which will release his "Subliminal Boogie", plus Solid State's "Fearful Dimensions" and a track by Bjorn Stokes called "You're Mine". Whew! That's a lot of music!

SPECIAL REPORT JUNGLE-USA STYLE
There are a few boys makin' Jungle trax in the USA...and some are standing out way above the others: DJ 3D out of Chicago sent us a fine white label EP with a soothing female loop entitled "How Many Ways." The label is called Dub Society Recordings, contact Dave at: (312)-237-0446. Check the Chicago Update for more info on upcoming releases.
Jungle Sky is a relatively new label set up by S.O.U.R. Records UK and DJ SoulSlinger's N.Y.C. record store, Liquid Sky, to give US Jungle artists an outlet for releasing their music. "Better Time" is the name of a KingSize (Columbus, Ohio) effort that will be backed by a Jason Jinx track called "Unlucky 13". This project of 2-artist on I record releases is tentatively titled "Jungle-R-U-S." Out very soon is SoulSlinger and ON-E's Jungle mix of Ziggy Marley's "Jah Got The Power" will be the infamous reggae artist's first venture into jungle music. Another SoulSlinger project is a 12" by AFRICA, featuring singer, Elissa, formerly of Basscut...long time Jungle experimentalist, A Guy Called Gerald, has the AFRICA tapes and is working on a remix to be released later.

RECORD REVIEWS
DJ ASH + DJ VERN
"1995 Flavour" (White)
Not for weak ears...this track contains the most wicked drums so far this year! Mello sax sample loop into hard, hard pounding snares, while a flanged voice of "Nineteen 95" gives a rest to the dangerous rhythms. Ain't no restin' on the B-side either...soul vocals, ragga vocals, rap vocals, mashed down drum & bass, nothing else could fit! A blasting effort from the KOOL-FM crew! -Jeffee
DJ RON
"Mr. Fix It" (London Somet'ing)
Ragga drum & bass from the man who knows how....steady, solid rhythm section on Side A with a change-up of building drum layers & soothing xylephone patterns to ad melody to the tuff, tribal beat. B-side, "Bob", cooks off with an original roots reggae groove overlayed by voodoo vocals that blend into hard toasting & charging drums. A heavy, pulsating tune.. YES! - Jeffee
DROPPIN' SCIENCE
"Firin' Line Remix" (Droppin' Science)
Big up Origin Unknown for this reworking that features a smooth set of breaks that roll through with the "ready on the left, ready on the right, ready on the firing line" placed in unobvious spots. Crisp drum & bass builds in this mix until the blues organ calms things down a bit. The only flaw is that there's nothing on the flipside!?! Not that you'd need anything else, of course. - AK1200
RUFF KUT
"River Nijer" Nookie Remix (Ruff Kut)
The original was out a while back..I think it was called "River is Burning"...the tune was tearin'. Now Nookie has completely redone it to a whole new track that simply leaves the original in the past. Intros with just a rollin' beat & every now and then you'll hear a 'serious' male vocal snippet. The reversed beat sequence lets ya know its time for some soothing strings, birds and sweet sax. A little boy asks, "Daddy, what's the river Nijer?..the river Niger? BOOM! A bassline that will redline any system pumps over straight drum & bass. I'm sure this will get picked up for export, if it hasn't already. A must! -AK1200
88.3 feat. LISA MAY
"Wishing on a Star" (Urban Gorilla)
The Gorilla's third release proves consistent with the first two. Rumor has it, everyone and their mother had a small part in making this track. Another summertime anthem for the drum & bass massive with totally uplifting piano licks and basslines. Lisa May's sweet, sweet voice comes by floating in perfect rhythm. This track will get your most boring house crowd up and moving...if the ladies like it, its gotta be good!
RUDE + DEADLY
"Mash Dem Down" (Unity)
Hardsteppas beware! It's amazing what that amen break is capable of doing. The 2 versions here are virtually the same - apart from the intro. The side I play starts with a Craig Mack riff and drops a little ragga fuckin' choon. Then an unbelievable set of chops follows the almost necessary low-humming B-line. Next is Mad Cobra's chant, "give me a dubplate, I'll makem mash him down" and it's all over...the crowd is yours. Nuff said. - AK1200
KAOS THEORY
"Soothe My Soul" (Intalex Productions)
Another atmospheric track with the help of female vocals as refreshing strings wash by. Some swift chops ride in with a loop of "soothe my soul" setting off some mashed up Amen breaks. Hardcore bass pressure. Wicked selection for the summer months. - AK1200
JACKO
"Wicked Everytime" (Unity)
Full-on dancehall intro that gets hard fuckin' core,,real fast! Another deadly concoction of the Amen break that works into a drum & bass frenzy. "Wicked everytime" sample, a smooth little funk breakdown, and we're drifting back into that dancehall goodness. The beats come back in to get you ready for a small taste of male vocals. This one's rollin all the way. -AK1200

RUNTINGS + LIFTIN' SPIRITS
"Come Easy" (Suburban Base)
Ant Miles and the man like Winston back on a joint tip with bionic results. The A-side is th meaning of "DJ friendly", with its quick set of breaks to start ya off. The strings come in before a hazy male vocal and the livin' drum sequence slams in, rippin' up the place with serious 808 bass drops. Definitely an uplifting, summertime feel to the rest of the song. "Invinsible" is a bit more laid-back, but by no means is it mellow! Early morning atmosphere all over this one. Both tracks do the job.
-AK1200
MAGISTRATE VOL.2
"Vol. 2" (White)
Side A starts with a choppy break that rolls with a little vocal stab. The breaks come in with some drops of cool water and a quick vocal breakdown. Things start kickin' back with a little bit of stretchin' and super-low bass. You'll be steppin' on this! Other side is ok...it has a sequence that sounds like a cross between the flatliners remix & Sponges "Crash"...that was kinda lame, but the rest of it was pretty good. Worth it for the A-side!

GENERAL DEGREE
"Papa Lover" (White)
Catchy dancehall stylee meets groovy soul beat... that combination means full dancefloor! Oncoming bubbly bass collides with good, hard snares, female "ahhh's" and "lighter" samples. All the familiar ingredients mixed up into a tasty ragga track! Remix on side B ain't nothin to worry about. -Jeffee
MERLIN
"Return of the Funk" (Renegade Recordings)
Sister label to trouble on vinyl. The A-side's guitar riff beginning rolls around the female vocal that rolls around your head! Massive skills in the drum programming...so many different, but perfect, sounding drums. Big funk breakdown turns right into unreal, foot-stompin breaks. Moodier flipside is equally firin'! It's got a nice chunk of Plez "Can't Stop" and delayed "I don't know" male vocal. Comes in full force with out of control bass drops. Absolute Mayhem! - AK1200
D'CRUZE
"Are We In" (Suburban Base)
This wild track takes you through some deep psychedelics and brings you back in for a landing so you can stagger over to the turntable to play it once again. Really groovy, really moody beginning is mixed to sound like you're listening inside a 6 story cathedral. Flanged vocal steers you toward the intense drum & bass workout only to send you off to a swirly, dreamy area for a while before bringing you back to the main breaks. Whoa. B-side uses an 808-bongoed rhythm and Sade vocal to flipped out drum effects and echoed vocals. This is a true masterpiece, beyond the jungle and outta the universe... Just listen. -Jeffee
STAKKA & K-TEE
"Livin for the Night" (Liftin' Spirits)
Every year at this time loads of quality female vocal tracks are released...not necessarily with full vocals, but prominent vocal loops. This record is a perfect example. Both sides stay on a wicked, uplifting level. "Livin for the Night" begins with delayed bongos that lead into powerful soul vocals. Crisp Amens & halftime b-lines are just plain dope. "After Hours" on the flip uses a female "anyplace you want my love, I'll give it to you" sample that builds into a huge bass attack . You'll definitely be steppin' on with this record! - AK1200
DANNY BREAKS
"Easy" (Droppin' Science)
Volume 6 at last...this tune is straight and to the point. It runs the same smooth, funky style as most all Droppin' Science releases. Intros with echoed wah-wah guitar and an "easy" vocal stab. A hovering bassline and female "oowooh" passes through to set-up the drum & bass workout. A quick breakdown follows and it's back to the breaks. Another version can be found on the B-side, all dreamy with a more active bassline...one for the mix tape. - AK1200

JUNGLE FLORIDA UPDATE
The struggle continues in the battle to bring the Florida masses up to par with the UK on the Jungle music tip. The summer season's almost here and it looks like more of the bigger party promoters are opening up to the Vibe and booking the Jungle DJ's at last! But it's been a while since the last Florida update, I should go back to last New Year's Eve in what was the catalyst in this area for Jungle in general and that was AK1200's drum & bass set at United House Culture's major bash (5000+ in attendance) at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. The huge crowd was jumpin' in a big way, proving to alot of disbelievers that Jungle music is vibe of the future! Respect to U.H. Culture for stepping up on that one.
Of course, the Jungle scene wouldn't gain any position without the underground DJ's & promoters who work on a much smaller scale to bring the music to the masses monthly. The Hardscience Cru consistently promote Jungle parties at small clubs in Daytona Beach. Orlando DJ's: Jeffee, AK1200 and Kene B. have been guests along with the Hard Science Cru themselves and St. Petersburg's DJ Dread. If you're a junglist beginner, this is a great way to get caught up on the music, since each DJ at the Hardscience Cru parties plays a totally different style of Jungle. Check for flyers in all the record stores.
In Orlando, DJ's AK1200 and Jeffee had a nice, but short, run at the Infinity club last winter as their weekly Saturday night party, "Return of the Jungle", fell victim to poor club management & the usual stupid politics. They are currently searching for new venue that's willing to promote the forefront of dance music, not the aftermath. I guess that's why Infinity is rumored to be closing down...if you keep moving the crowd forward, they'll never get tired of the same ol' stuff.
We've been noticing "Jungle" sections cropping up at local Orlando record stores such as Bad Mood, Underground and even Camelot at the mall. Also, we've seen ad's on the Internet for Resonance Records out of Ft. Lauderdale...they've been stocking Jungle records and selling them through lists on the net. Support them! Call: (305) 846-8807, or e-mail: [email protected] for more info.
In Daytona Beach, May 26th, DJ Jeffee was featured in a Madhouse Productions "Old School" party called "Nebula". Jeffee dusted off the oldies and laid down an hour-long "history of Jungle" set full '91 to '93 anthems by Criminal Minds, Nino, Austin, Manix, etc...
Both AK1200 and DJ Dread spun serious sets at the extra-huge Orb show at the Masquerade club in Tampa on May 27th. The following week (June 3) Masquerade will feature trance artists Rabbit in the Moon along with many DJ's including ragga-jungle DJ, Jeffee and Dread again. The Rabbit in the Moon guys respect Jungle music in a big way! It's refreshing to see them including all types of DJ's on the bill...nice one Steve McClure! Also we've gotten word that Jeffee is spinning full-on at a proposed BEACH RAVE?!? on June 17 near Daytona. Watch for flyers. The Jacksonville Crew's got it going on now too...look for Dread & The Hardscience Cru to guest at the Metro up there with resident junglist Matt Caulder.
AK1200's June schedule puts him on the road and in the air...June 17 in Washington, D.C. and off the U.K. the following week. Expect a full & detailed report of his trip right here in Junglized!
Still in the planning stages is a huge Ragga/Jungle Rave at the Metro West Skating Rink in West Orlando. Top UK DJ, Kenny Ken is rumored to be headlining, possibly along with some other famous "De-toxicating" DJ and his "Rude Boy" partner--but nothing's set in stone, yet. C.A.P. Productions is working on bringing you this party around July or Early August and they've even recruited Channel 9 news for a jungle music "segment". We'll keep ya posted!

The scene in CHICAGO has been firin'...believe me! February saw the US debut of DJ Dextrous & MC Rude Boy Keith (Suburban Base/King of the Jungle) at Jungle Ting Production's '95 Brock Out! It was the coldest night of the year with wind chill temp.'s at minus 50° F....but inside the place was "fire." DJ Dextrous dropped plate after plate to the Brock Wild massive. Lightahs, horns, whisles and lick shots rang out for the rewind. Live PA with MC Rude Boy Keith included "Bad Bwoy Tune" remix, "Selector's Roll" remix, "Original K", "Legend", "Lovable", "Salute the Kings" remix, the amazing "Top Gun", which received a wheel the minute the bassline dropped, "Moonlight" and "Switch." And believe me Dextrous, the phone at Dub Shack has not stopped ringing for a release date on that one, mate...time to get in the studio! MC Rude Boy Keith showed the crowd the real MC style as they rolled thru an incredible 2 and a half hour set. Oh gosh! The word on the show was out...by the day of the event crews from NewYork, Boston, Houston, Milwaukee, St. Louis and even LA had made their way to Chicago. Maximum respect to all who showed support. Hold tight Roger, big-up your chest!
Ripe Production's "Psychosis 3" on April 1, treated over 2500 people to the sounds of DJ Ron, Trace and Slipmaster J alongside MC's G.Q., Five-O, and Det. Absolutely wicked set by Ron got the crowd jumpin'. The MC's niced up the dance with a steady stream of MC chatting. Trace dropped a wicked jungle & breakbeat set debuting X-amount of choonz for Chicago. Contact Dub Shack for a pro-mastered, direct from DAT recording of DJ's on the night.
Friday nights have been bubblin' since DJ Snuggle's radio show, "Strictly Jungle" hit the airwaves. WNUR, 89.3 in Chicago, 12:30 - 2 am. There's all the excitement of a London pirate with live MC's, a ram studio cru and phone lines runnin' red all night. Regulars include DJ JJ Jellybean and MC's Blackeye and Biggs plus a load of guests!
In the studio, JJ Jellybean teamed up with DJ 3D under the name CHEWN WISE to do some remix work for Strictly Hype records. The resulting song, "Where's the Black" is a drum & bass stormer, sure to catch the attention of the majors.
DJ 3D and Dub Society Recordings are preparing their second release entitled "Junglist Massive." The plate has been firin' around Chicago since Dextrous dropped it at '95 Brock Out! The flip will be a completely new song currently in post production. There's word of a DJ Snuggles release soon, but the project is still tightly under wraps.
Phantom 45 released his much anticipated follow up to the "Lethal Dose" mix tape this week. The "45 Glide" is a drum & bass workout, completely studio mixed and mastered this tape rocks the drum & bass style as only the Phantom can. Available thru Dub Shack.
On the horizon, Jungle Ting is planning it's next event for July 15 alongside a full crew of Stateside and Toronto Junglists...mark your calendar! Jungle Ting line: (708)786-3955.
Ripe will also be planning jungle bizness alongside the Dub Shack...ring Ripe on (312) 509-6453 or Dub Shack at (708) 603-1983

Like all music, Jungle's history has become twisted & distorted. Listen up, my friends! Jungle is not a new style of music...It just has a new name because the music's ever metamorphosizing. Born in the late '80's, Jungle, then named Breakbeat, comes in different flavors: Intelligent, Hardstep, Ragga, Dark, Drum & Bass, Ambient, and Hardcore. Would you like fries with that??
Just a quick view as to what goes on here in New York City. Mixed Bag puts on a monthly party by the name of Konkrete Jungle at different locations across the city. The DJ's on hand are Dara, Delmar, Cassien, Soul Slinger, Clear and Panik with MC Rogue and others. The Pressure Cooker, a weekly party, offers a wide variety of music, but has had Jungle spun by DJ's Odi, Beau and more. Also, The Egg, a Tuesday affair, has a rotation of Jungle DJ's spinning.
U-Buzzin Productions has recently travelled to Chicago (Psychosis III, Ripe Productions) and witnessed U.K. Junglists: DJ Ron, Trace, Slipmaster J. & MC's: Five-O, GQ, and Det. Also we've visited Washington, DC (Champion Sound, 2-Tuff Productions) for Chicago's JJ Jellybean, Karl K., Slant, DieselBoy, and Method One while MC Dub 2 kept moving the crowd.
As long as Jungle is brought on positively and we support each other's parties, DJ's & MC's, the Jungle scene will mature. This is U-Buzzin's goal.
RESPECT to all massive from Chicago, New York, D.C., Florida, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston, Toronto, and the U.K. Keep the vibe rollin'.
U-Buzzin is: 1. Accepting DJ bookings for DJ Karl K., Nynex, Dara, MC Dub 2 and others.

JUNGLE WASH D.C. UPDATE
Big Up all DC Massive! Much respect to all dedicated in building DC's true underground scene, the Jungle scene. Tings are starting to happen in this corrupt city, the Nation's Capitol. All of the hard work and support of quite a few people is starting to show as the Junglist Massive grows more and more. Not just in D.C., but for all stateside jungle crews.
With MINDCONTROLLER and RUFFNECK before, DC was finally ready for 2 TUFF Production's strictly jungle party, CHAMPION SOUND, on April 15th. People danced the entire night, the vibe was killer! But what else would you expect from JJ Jellybean from Chicago; DieselBoy from Pittsburgh; Philadelphia's Karl K.; local talent, Method One; and of course 2-Tuff's very own Slant tearing things up on the decks. The wicked MC Dub 2 kept things rolling all night long. With these fine selectors and the boomin' Stingray Sound System, this party was absolutely wicked!
