"Welcome To The Junga."
Here again is the third chapter of Junga-Vibes, quite a shift in our creation/publication process is probably very noticable, I felt that a little clean-up was necessary after seeing how horrendous some parts of our past issues looked. Enjoy-
This issue's respect goes to the following: my boy Raven, Pleasure Force, C.H.A., Miguel and Ben of Incredi-beats fame, Euphonic spirit(s)-whats up,A.T.P. , Amy and Mike of Hardcorn, Free Art Phil-(more porno issues), MOT and Massive crew-thanks for having us, Kind, Sense and Ripe get props too, and of course all TRUE 'ardcore D.J.'s (you know the ones!), Grind INC. for the "frontin'" art, TVT-Tha Voodoo Tribe, Trance 5000 and SIN for some of the cutouts, Bones of Kitchner for the cover-boy, and of course all you readin' this who CONTINUE to support this stagnant scene of Chicago-keep it up , our time will come!

INTRODUCTION:VEIWS ON THE"ZINE SCENE".
Whats up ravers, and welcome back to the Junga, lame times have been hitting us hard so I figured I'd get another issue out before the end of the year.
Lately it seems that I've been getting swamped with new 'zines from all over the midwest. First was that Massive deal which was the supposed collaboration of all the Mid-west rave 'zines , well due to poor communication amoung the MOT crew ,we were'nt notified of this project until two weeks before Halloween , at which time we had already finished issue 2 an had planned to hand it out at Grave Rev anyway. Since MOT was pressed for time we had no time to complete a new contribution for massive so sent in our issue 2 instead. That left us stuck with 250 copies of our magazine to hand out to people who already had it in their copy of massive anyway, kind of a waste huh? Better planning and communication are essential next time , but thanks for having us!
Anyway back to the topic of this article, about the flood of 'zines saturating our scene, at first I was ready to pull a Phil and just give it all up when I saw all of these new publications that I have never seen before, along with the more "established" zines. I felt like a fool for becoming involved in an all of the sudden popular trend

INTRODUCTION:VEIWS ON THE "ZINE SCENE."
CONT.-
Well thats been the point of our magazine scince day one,
(notice the name-duh,) it will happen whether you like it or not,
a lot of people may feel left out from this and
yet more will find interest in our scene from
this shift. Progress is Eminant.
With more and more up and coming pro-
moters being actual ravers themselves, the
wheels of Junga-lism are already in motion.
It was discouraging a few week-ends ago
when while talking to the female creator of
an unnamed Wisconsin rave zine, I told how
I really wanted to spread the word on break-
beats and bring it to more parties through use
of raver demand. Her reply to this was a sarcstic, "breakbeats are
real popular in Wisconsin, Mr.Bill spins 'em!" (he was spinning at
the time). I said nothing in reply since I was to shocked to discover
that people were so mis-informed.
Later while reading her magazine I saw how she felt that
Grave Reverence was a "cocaine x-travaganza", with "hardco'
breakbeat cocaine all night long!"-I almost cried at such nievety.
For those who dont know, Cocaine is the Wisconsin pet term
for 'Ardcore, coined by MOT, I dont mind if people are going to
use this term , but if you are going to use it the least you can do is
use it correctly and give props to where they belong.
Peace-

J,V,T,'S VERY OWN........
Page 4 whore.
by: BlackEye
Well this issues Page four whore is a total mystery to me as to who it is, but this person does exist an dthey know who they are.
That's right this page goes out to whoever got the Mind Flux Dream(october 23 -CI)-busted. Now while I do not agree with core innovations promotional tactics, as it has been stated before here in these pages, to bust parties is a much more evil crime than being a shaddy promoter.
To bust that event was lame, fo rthe ravers are the ones who ended up suffering, the kids who went to the slammer for being underage and under-ground. Whoever called the cops on MFD did just that, sent good kids to jail, I got about as much respect for you as those pigs you're so buddy-buddy with.
I heard that the Hard Corn kids worked hard all night to help get those kids out of jail so much respex to them! Give em a call and tell them what good kids they are. To the mystery person , well we thinks you suck, if anyone knows who this person is get a picture of them and send it to meso I can make stickers with an appropriate heading of them.
I know this was quite a while ago but lets keep this in mind as we head into the new year so we dont make the same mistakes twice!

"Come with tha DARKSIDE"
by:Blackeye
This is basically a refutal to much of the bad hype which seems to be going around about Dark Hardcore, or simply "Darkside."
While it can be said that there are plenty and plenty of of cheesey dark tracks or at least cheesey samples contained in these tracks, these do not represent the genre of darkside.
Samples such as "hello Darkness", "hardcore darkness", or even the theme song and monologue to the 1980's TV show,"Tales from the Darkside" played over a looped break are indeed sad inclusions to hardcore. Yet the jungalists are not without their bomber tracks as well. -The 'erb ( Knite Force UK) comes to mind with samples of B.Marleys "Is it love?" done in a loop over some good bass and drums, another is ANOTHER Marley sample , this time of "One Love" done in much the same manner as The 'Erb.
Dark Side
This shows no creativity on the part of the musician of these tracks. There are plenty of Ragga samples out to push the sub-genre of Jungle to new directions , yet to dig as deep as your local musicland for the Marley boxed set , for a whole load of "established" rasta samples is weak, and earns no respect.
In defense of Darkside, I have heard many dark tracks which show much simplicity and and creativity. Just imagine a lone eerie creaking noise, played to an increasingly aggresive b-line, with quickening breaks chasing you down. Now thats a Dark
track-simple-fast-and ruff!
MADNESS
Now imagine yourself at a party with that as the backround with all the lights off and smoke so thick it frightens you...........
..every Marley sample in the world cant front on that!
Page 7
Below is something I cut out from HardCorn #1 which we agree with totally. Sorry I didnt ask you guys for permission, peace and hope you dont mind! I'm sick and tired of all this graffiti shit! One thing that gets us mad is the misuse of tax payer $$$'s for political ad campaigns such as: MAYOR DALEY'S GRAFFITI BLASTERS. Another feeble attempt of government trying to kill the arts so we all become a bunch of mind-controlled drones. Don't fall for it! Put in your two-cents worth by calling the Graffiti Blasters hotline: 744-1234. Call them whenever, wherever. KRYLON KRYLON KRYLON

Event Reveiws
This 'zine like most other up and comers has in the past posted pages and pages of event reveiws, the first tactic in filling pages of any 'zine. Well here's where that stops for us-below is the events hit since last issue and comments on each, no more in-depth reveiws.
October 23 brought a roadtrip with the man much like JJ Jellybean to Toronto for Sykosis' event "Unity", a slammin time of course, compared to what happened here!
October 30 brought hallo'een around with DBN's Grave Rev. this party sucked (to put it bluntly!) "hey guys turn that music down, dont you know people are trying to talk here?"
The next was that "See tha light" tour at Metro, glad I missed that one-should've checked out HardCorn's freebie-great vibes, wicked toons and loads of balloons! -shouts out to Amy and Mike for pullin off a winner-best party of the month.
November 27 was nutty night, nothing large unless you went to Madison, first was Rogers party-got to crowded and wanted to dance so headed to Medusas(dont ask why!) got there a half hour before closing time so headed to that thingy on Polk,(thanks for the invite Roger!)-got there only to find out it was being busted by Danny Partrige or something, weird night, shouts out to Cowleen for bearing through it with me.
Dec.4 brought that Warp Core thingy up in Madison, drove three hours for ....YES , another Wisconsin rolleraverape really negative vibe with the usual gabber\acid\proggy line-up ............well actually WAY to much prog. oh well.

"Objective Communication."
Got the party blues? Sick of having to travel many hours out of state to attend a party, or at least a good one, only to then be disappointed by it.
Keep this:
JVT's "NEW" voice mail line-----708-216-9725----- or up-2 date caravan info, and therwise!
Well then this story won't do much for that, but why not get some control? Get a voicemail box and tell people what parties YOU are planning on attending, arrange caravans to out of state events and invite all to come along if a ride is needed or if they don't know the way.
Get that number out in circulation with xeroxed flyers, stickers, a zine, a letter, whatever, all other voicemail numbers during the week to find out what's going on-communication is xtremeley important-we need it. Hard Corn did party way back when that was fantastic, yet how many of you knew about it before it happened? Dont refuse hand-outs at parties either, that cheesey flyer with an unknown number and even more unknown DJ's could be the key to a greater underground in the future, and you just threw it on the floor!
Don't just rely on picking up full scale flyers t Untitled for party info. The trend is moving towards word of mouth/word of voice mail only, and if you dont gots the number well you're left out.
#'s that caught my attention in 1993: MOT-414-777-EXTC

EXT-"A-T-P-"

-(These #'s are all entertaining to call upon and some feature good phat trax in tha background!)
To steal a tid-bit from C.H.A.#1:"Parties of the future will have little or no flyer promotion, just word of mouth and a voice mail number-1,000+ in a couple of hours, I know we're capable!"

"I must struggle to be a Drop Bass clone kid."
by: BlackEye
Or is it clown kid?
Anyways I must say that I sure was sad to hear that whistles were no longer "In" , amoung the Milwaukee Rave Scene,(credits:Scratchpaper-1).
So in order to keep up with the Milwaukee rave trends I decided to go out and peirce my eye-brows, therefore retiring my whistle alongside my glowsticks, produce stickers, pacifiers on necklaces and floppy hats. Myself being only a dumb ravenik from Chicago who must not know Jack about raves or "Hardcore", and must obviously know alot about and like house music, since again, I am from Chicago.
I must struggle to be a "Drop Bass kid clown", and therefore find unity with my peers by destroying individualism, and form a sort of rave-communism, by looking all alike , and forming a trend or clique that ostracizes and excludes anyone who's not like me,or at least doesn't have enough balls to peirce 'em!
Yeah well maybe not, I enjoy whistles, and feel that they are an eternal part of the rave spirituality. While they can be EXTREMELY annoying in the hands of goofballs. I feel that when done correctley they are a fine addition to any party, and can get the crowd hyped......:....there's nothing like that "connection", it can be beutiful at times.
At a WI. event of the recent past I thought I was going to get pounded on when I broke out my whistle, and I hadn't even used it yet! To quote Ice Cube way back in the days of NWA ...."you dont like how I'm living then FUCK YOU!"
look they're smiling, they obviously cant be "Hard core!"
-- Peace to all who continue to keep with the ways of back in the day-whistle posse-AND KEEP BLOWIN DEM WHISTLES!

"Youngblood."
By: Pete
Why is it that a city the size of Chicago with population galore can't seem to get it's head out of it's ASS to throw a decent party?
I'm more or less a newbie to the scene, but I know enough to tell you that our shit is being deystroyed by a GREEDY SLUG who, due to some personal insecurity, needs to be in the spptlight at every event.
censored
This goes out to [censored] You've had your chance! Be a man and step down.
This town is stagnating because of your shit, and turning many cool people away in the process.
INSTEAD of kicking the newcomers down why don't you help them up and make Chicago something besides the Butt of other city's jokes.
Wheres the UNITY you all preach?
Could it be a front to help you siphon our money into your pocket?
I've seen alot of Peace, LOVE, Unity preaches but few who practice what they preach.
All hats off to Brian for showing me the hardcore once again and anyone for + or- influences.
All respects to Dr. Groo for saving my friends and I from uncertain doom back in April after J.S. busted.
He happened to be one of the people who practiced what he preached.
Peace......
Editors add:
The following has been "censored", in order to help promote more unity and less name calling.-sorry Pete!

"To all tha Gabberaniacs..........."
By:Blackeye.
Words on Gabberhouse. All right now that it seems a new debate is arising on the terms of hardcore, I'll voice my own veiws on Gabberhouse.
I dont mind it if it is done in a good harsh manner, but anything with neo-nazi samples, or cheesey "power" samples such as "he'll tear your soul apart!", or "unleash the POWER, POWER, POWER!" Just really turn me off, they're goofy and as respectable as your average death metal band. I really dont see how one can find "peace love and unity", and all that good stuff in such a negative form of music.
Be a Gabber...
In its defense I must say that it does sound good at a rave, and can easily cause a panic on the dancefloor-which can be exciting, but the genre is really bastardizing itself with all the Pantera samples and speed metal cuts.

UNTITLED......
I really hate to talk about drugs and other substances in this 'zine. While they are usually a part of my "raving experience", I really do not want to turn this into a D.I.Y. high times or the like. But recently I made a quite surprising discovery while calling an old Pennsylvania rave line I accidentally came across the voice mail for "the all natural herbal energizer." who offered free samples for those who left their address so I did so.
About two weels later I received a package containing 12 tablets of Chromium picolinate, along with some literature. While reading I was surprised at some of the ingredeints involved in this pill. Most of which are herbs, if you are on the naturalistic tip you know that these herbs are natural energy suppliers that work well but are often expensive once found.
Here's what I "experienced", first try: I took 3 (the recomended amount) at work, after two hours I felt like I was on 12+ plus ephidrins. Nothing out of control mind you but a good rush, if you smoke you'll crave nicotime on these.no side effects were noticable.
Second try: I took three again, the next day and guess what? Nothing happened, I guess a tolerance is built on these.
Third try: I waited about a week and a half and took my last six all at once, this was more like it again nothing intense or crazy but a damn fine rush that'l getcha movin
I recomend that you get your hands on some of these, they're free so you really have no reason not to get some. Dial 215-552-8833-to get these babies. I think they ask you to tell them how you heard of these so dont mention this , I dont think they'd be to happy to know that some 'zine is telling people to call them for free samples, just make up a lie.

Changes: Theres been plenty of 'em here at J.V.T., we've lost one member(?), and gained three. Much rispekt to Mariko of former ATP fame, my boy Pete - providing tha youngblood transfusion, and Raven (a.k.a.-DJ Hap-e-vibes) artist at large.
We've also aqquired a "new" voice mail line....................----------------708-216-9725---------, give us a call day or night for the latest info on upcoming events, possible caravans for those "typical-Chicago" weekends, or if you just got something to say to us or in regards to our magazine, we're here for ya 24-7.
Our former voice mail (708-515-5758) is still in service , but under the control of these three"girls", that I care to not be associated with at all, If you called and heard beavis and butthead, 2 live crew, Sonic youth, or "Lisa and Jenny's Love line", it wasnt us, and we would like to not be associated with those topics or artists at all, understand!
We're also welcoming more raver input, if you got something to say, call us and leave it on tha line, or simply mail it in to us if you cant say in under 3 minutes, we'll print it if you so desire. Only regulations are: NO POEMS, no stories on how "neato"gabberhaus tekno is, and no "drug experience" stories. Simple as dat. There are plenty of publications which will accept such contributions but NOT US! Upon arrival of such they will swiftly be returned with a letter bomb , plus we will know were you live , and will proceed to hunt you down.
